CAVAL and Skilltype enter strategic partnership to provide talent management platform access to Australian libraries

Baton Rouge, LA, and Melbourne, VIC (July 20, 2022) — CAVAL has partnered with library software company Skilltype as an exclusive distributor, providing members and other libraries in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) who subscribe with access to skills training and talent insights.

CAVAL provides cost-effective and collaborative library support services, skills, and knowledge to its member universities in Victoria. As part of its commitment to delivering quality solutions and services that enable the entire ANZ education and library community, CAVAL has become Skilltype’s exclusive distribution partner in the region, providing access to the platform along with ongoing training and support.

'Capability building in the library sector is an integral part of CAVAL’s strategy and we are excited to be collaborating with Skilltype. Skilltype’s innovative platform allows us to enrich our offering and provide opportunities to the ANZ library sector to develop their institution's capabilities to deliver quality services for their patrons as well as the individual,' says Jaime McCowan, CEO of CAVAL.

By way of this latest endeavor with Skilltype, CAVAL will also strengthen its Capability Building Initiatives, introducing its members and other libraries to Skilltype’s innovative technology for training and development, expertise sharing, and talent insights, further enabling them to meet the ever-increasing demand for digital literacy during a time of constrained resources. Through this partnership, CAVAL will also offer improved facilitation of their mentorship program using skills and interests insights from the platform to match experienced librarians to mentees.

'CAVAL has been at the forefront of 21st-century library skill development for years now, including their involvement in Australia’s Digital Dexterity initiative before the COVID-19 pandemic. We are excited to continue supporting their contributions to the community with new tools to incorporate data in the conversation,' shares Skilltype Founder & CEO, Tony Zanders.

Skilltype and CAVAL recently presented their collaborative research on rethinking library professional development and mentoring during the pandemic at the VALA2022 conference on 16 June, providing insights and value to the ANZ library community.
