Summer 2022
Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the summer edition of Snapshot – as we bring you the latest news and impact of our work at Imperial College Health Partners.

We're continuing to deliver our portfolio of local priorities, including supporting the introduction of the Paediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) chart in paediatric settings to support safer urgent care for children, hosting our first ever pan-London MatNeo Network event, and showcasing the work of Discover-NOW at Health Data Research UK’s Building a Legacy event - all of which you can read more about below.

I’m also delighted to share with you our 2021/22 Impact Report. From managing operations to turn Wembley Stadium into a vaccination centre, to launching the Pan-London Respiratory Dashboard, to designing and delivering a pan-London deliberation to inform the London Health Data Strategy, 2021/22 was once again an interesting, innovative and impactful year for ICHP. We could not have achieved what we have without the continued support and collaboration of our fantastic colleagues from across the health system as well as our partners from academia and industry – for which we thank you all. You can read more about our year in our Impact Report here

We succeed through the great people we have in our team, and the wonderful relationships we have with our local system, industry and third sector partnerships and national colleagues. If you have a project you think we could support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes,

Axel

Supporting real-world evaluation of health technologies

In partnership with the Discover-NOW health data research hub, and MedCity Diagnostics Growth Hub, we have been appointed as an external assessment group (EAG) supporting the real-world evaluation of health technologies by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Our EAG will be working to accelerate the development and adoption of new, life-saving technologies into healthcare, bringing together our expertise in real-world evidence and evidence evaluation.

Find out how we’ll be working with MedCity and NICE to speed up real world evaluation

When it comes to public involvement, trust is a two-way street

ICHP and Discover-NOW Senior Engagement lead, Sadie Myhill, reflects on the learnings from the Discover-NOW Citizens' Advisory Group and why we all need to trust in the public as well as ask for theirs, in her blog on the importance of public engagement and our deliberative approach.

Access to children and young people's mental health services increases across the board

New analysis from the NWL Networked Data Lab has found that more children and young people (CYP) than ever before are experiencing mental health events. Our recently published report highlights the stark reality of the impact of the pandemic on the mental health of CYP in North West London. As a result of our analysis, we’re working directly with NWL’s Children’s Mental Health Steering Group to see how we can make practical changes to services, working in a compassionate way.

Get involved

The NWL Networked Data Lab is now undertaking analysis, as well as patient and public engagement work, around health outcomes for unpaid carers. If you would like to be involved in this work, or join our professional reference group, please get in touch with Emma Sharpe-Jones

Safer emergency care for children with PEWS programme

We’re supporting the implementation of a new standardised, patient-focused tool which positively impacts the health of our paediatric population. The Paediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) chart, with our support, is being implemented in four acute Trusts through our Patient Safety Collaborative and working closely with our ICS partners, NHS frontline colleagues, NHSE/I colleagues and other paediatric networks.

If you’re interested in knowing more about this work, please get in touch with Kenny Ajayi.

MatNeoSip Network

We’re proud to be supporting maternity and neonatal colleagues with their improvement ambitions as part of our AHSN Network patient safety portfolio. Over 100 local health and care colleagues attended our first ever Pan-London MatNeoSIP Network Event to share their expertise and learn from others across maternity and neonatal units. Read more about the passion and collaboration driving local innovation in this blog, or email Omid Nivi to get on the list for our next event here.
