Welcome to the Team

Meet Zanjbeel, our new Befriending Co-ordinator

Zanjbeel is helping us to set up and deliver ‘Well Connected’, our new befriending service which will connect people who are struggling with their mental health or feeling lonely with friendly, supportive volunteers.

Zanjbeel has completed her Counselling certificate and is currently studying toward her Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Why Befriending is Important?

Befriending can make a positive difference and change someone's life. By offering one-to-one befriending volunteers can help someone create a network of support and encourage a positive change in their mental health and wellbeing.

How will it work in the words of our new Befriending Co-ordinator

"Well Connected will match a befriender volunteer with someone from the community, based on like-mindedness and location.

Together they will go on walks, meet for coffee, chat through Zoom or over the phone.

By beginning to engage with the community and enjoy building a strong connection, participants will develop their confidence, have more social contact, and positively benefit their wellbeing and mental health." ─ says Zanjbeel.

'Well Connected' has been featured in the East Lothian Courier and you can learn more about the project here

Events

SCVO Gathering 2022 | Our project development co-ordinator Kelly spotted us on the SCVO Gathering wall of supporters.
Changes took part in the largest voluntary sector event in the UK, SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations) gathering in Glasgow.

It was a great opportunity to meet other voluntary organisations and learn from each other.

WELL Course | Wellbeing, Environment, Learning and Laughter
Run only once per year, this outdoor activity programme offers an opportunity to connect with nature, explore beautiful locations in East Lothian and meet some lovely people.

The group got along well, sharing knowledge and working together.

Thank you to Flowersmith Ruth Alder,  Alasdair from the Amisfield Walled Garden, East Lothian countryside ranger Meryl, our project co-ordinator Kelly, Kirstie, Aiden and Teal their dog over at Seabuckthorn Scotland CIC for their inspirational workshops and wildlife learning sessions.

A huge thank you to Ace Bike Co

Thank you to Ace Bike Co bike shop in Musselburgh for supporting us following our bike hut break-ins.

Ace Bike Co have repaired bikes, advised on tool replenishment, purchased kit and bikes for us, and donated a bike to our cycling group!

We are also grateful to the East Lothian community for offering bikes, which we couldn't take because our new hut wasn't ready yet.

We are now back to capacity, and we'll be able to loan bikes again soon.
