Hello  <<First Name>>,

Last week we were lucky to be invited to take our creativity to Standon Calling Festival. Here's a little look at how it went...
Standon Calling is an annual independent boutique music and arts festival with big acts, emerging talent and creativity in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside and was held on the 21st-24th July.

What initially began as a birthday barbecue for founder Alex Trenchard in 2001, became a live music event in 2004, and quickly expanded to a
two day festival in 2006 with a full-size main stage and now

caters for a capacity of 10,000 festival goers. The festival has also won the award for UK Festival Award for Best Innovation

We got everyone involved in a range of creative activities making flower crowns, nipple tassels, macrame keyrings, craft coasters and 'how to draw a dog' workshops.

The workshops were a great hit,  family friendly and made everyone involved feel more inspired about creativity and it's positive mindful benefits. We can't wait to take our creativity to more festivals in future.
Back in spring this year, we touched on how we try to be more environmentally friendly here at M.Y.O and that we have a pledge which we regularly review. We have recently reviewed our activities and goals and wanted to share them with you:

What we are trying to do at M.Y.O to minimise our impact on the planet.
  • We use Ticket Tailor for our class bookings, who make a donation for each ticket sold .
  • We have bins in the studio that seperate our rubbish and recycling and we use The First Mile, a recycling company who collect our glass, other recyclables and general waste (which we try to minimise).
  • We always ask our guests to bring their own bags for collecting pottery and painted ceramics.
  • We are mindful of when we turn our kiln on for firing pottery which we only do when it is full. We also use Bulb (a sustainable energy company) for our gas and electricity supply.
  • We teach people skills, so that they can hopefully go on to have more of an appreciation for things and buy less.
  • We only buy our toilet paper and kitchen roll from Who Gives A Crap.
  • We use Ecover cleaning products - they are all 'about respecting the planet and looking out for nature'.
  • We encourage our attendees to be mindful with the materials to reduce unnecessary waste.
  • We are reviewing all of our creative kits to make them more sustainable, working to remove none recyclable products and plastic.
We want everything that we do here at M.Y.O to be a positive, both in how we impact on humans as well as the planet, becauase we believe that together we can make the world a better, kinder place and we take the future of our planet seriously and believe that we all have a part to play in looking after the world!

Workshops
How about joining us for an outdoor watercolour workshop in the lovely sunshine or get involved in printing your own tote bag at our sociable, mood-boosting workshops!

Join M.Y.O for an evening of lino printing and exploring your creative side. This 2.5 hour workshop is one of our most popular and you can choose to lino print onto fabric or make your own A4 prints.

Using a single block of A6 lino, you'll be guided through how to create multiple lino prints in a variety of colours. This workshop provides an introduction to the tools and techniques whilst experimenting with different methods for lino printing.  You'll go home with your very own print.

We will guide you through how to create your own beautiful watercolour masterpiece, including colour mixing and mark-making, before work on a main piece. You'll get lots of tips and guidance and become more confident as you work, whilst developing your own style.

The workshop takes place in the beautiful park near to the studio where we will be surrounded by trees, plants and nature for lots of inspiration.
