Family Camp Edition
West Morris Church's mission is to Awaken Hope with the Transforming Light of Jesus.

Our vision is to partner with God to cultivate flourishing and unleash revival in West Indy.

Join us in this life-transforming, hope-filled Kingdom work!

You are from God, little children, and you have defeated these people because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Overcomer & Overcoming

Greetings from the beautiful grounds of Wabash Park Camp & Retreat Center in Clay City, Indiana! This week's Family Camp theme is "Overcomer."

Do you consider yourself an overcomer? Do you know someone who has overcome considerable circumstances in their life? Have you thought about the ways "overcome" and "overcomer" show up in scripture? The Gospel of Mark regularly describes the crowds who gathered around Jesus' teaching and miracles as being overcome with awe or wonder. When was the last time you were overcome with awe and wonder at our great God? For me, being in nature helps me reconnect with God in this way, but when life gets busy, it's easy to lose sight of that. How might you take time this week to be overcome with God's awe and wonder?

Jesus also describes himself as an overcomer when talking with and comforting his disciples. He declares,
"Look! A time is coming—and is here!—when each of you will be scattered to your own homes and you will leave me alone. I’m not really alone, for the Father is with me. I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world.” (Jn 16.32-33) Jesus is the overcomer - the conquerer - and we are the beneficiaries of that great work. And as those in Christ, we are given the same power that raised Jesus from the dead - that conquered the world - so that through Him, we too can conquer and overcome.

Family Camp Worship - Sunday, July 24
I look forward to worshiping together this Sunday AT Family Camp on the campground of the Wabash Park Camp & Retreat Center. The service begins at 10:30 AM, and afterwards, we will be enjoying a pitch-in lunch together in the picnic shelter. Tableware, drinks and the main dish (pulled pork) will be provided. Please bring side dishes, salads, or desserts to share.

As a reminder, there are rides available for everyone who wants to come. Don't let the need to travel to keep you from coming to Family Camp. Don't let gas prices keep you from coming. Margaret Miller is driving the church van and still has seats available. Call her to reserve her spot at 317-332-2864. She will be leaving from the church at 8:30 AM on Sunday morning. If you are driving and have a few extra seats, reach out to someone to invite them and/or meet at the church parking lot Sunday morning to see who you might give a ride to. I promise you won't regret coming to Family Camp on Sunday!

Family Camp Worship every Night this Week @ 7 PM
You are also encouraged to come up to Family Camp for evening worship services on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this week. Each service begins at 7 PM. Tonight (Thursday), will be the annual Memorial Service where we celebrate and remember individuals from all our FM churches who have gone on to be with the Lord. Tonight West Morris Church will honor the faithful lives of Ken Platt, Wanda Dunham and Tim Bruce (whom I inadvertently left off last year's list). Following tonight's service, there will also be a special concert from singer/songwriter Katy Kinard (listen here) which should be wonderful!

May God continue to bless and encourage you!

Come listen, learn and be part of community dialogues and discussions for West Indy.
