Welcome to Our Community
As director of the Center for Family and Community Engagement, I want to welcome everyone and thank you for being a part of our community. We have been working on providing a learning environment for anyone who wants to be involved in making a positive impact in people's lives for over 25 years in the state of North Carolina, and we want to continue expanding our work.

As our Center expands, we want to provide up-to-date information and news on our programs, events, and the new perspectives from professionals in the field. Therefore, we introduced this space to keep you informed and share tips and tools that you can apply in your own field of work and life.

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy everything we've prepared for you!

3 Steps Toward Child Welfare
Whether you are a foster parent, social worker, psychologist, or caregiver, it's important to establish these three key points for the welfare of the children in your care.

1. Build Support Systems: There are three main support systems that a child should always have. A formal system (ex: doctor), informal (ex: friends), and a family support system.
2. Learn How to Communicate: Build an environment where the child feels safe to express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns. It's important that you learn how the child processes information so you can establish the best communication method. For example, there are children who respond well to strict and clear rules, and others who prefer general guidelines.
3. Advocate for Them:
Sometimes children feel neglected or like they are not being heard. It's important to find a place and time where they perceive that you advocate for them so they understand that you are there to support them.
