PWF ECUADOR
Journey with us to Ecuador and experience Pacific Whale Foundation’s efforts to educate the community and youth of the area with our new children’s book, written by PWF Ecuador Programs Director Dr. Cristina Castro. It teaches them about local marine life and the threats they face, while stressing how we can each make a difference. Much of environmental education in Ecuador is focused on the jungle habitat, but there is a lack of education about the ocean and its inhabitants. SO FAR, we have reached 900 children have been reached!
YOU can help us continue this VITAL education to protect the ocean
with a donation to PWF's efforts today.

MEET PEGGY
Humpback whale #333’s first recorded sighting occurred July 1, 2002 — a year after PWF expanded research efforts to include crucial breeding grounds in Ecuador — when researchers observed HBW #333, now Peggy, swimming with a single companion off Isla de la Plata. On Aug. 25, 2008, researchers spotted Peggy again, this time in a pod of three individuals. The following September, Peggy was sighted traveling solo near Isla Salango. Peggy’s most recent sighting was four years later, off Isla de la Plata, in the company of another whale. Although data collected by the Ecuador Research team confirmed the whale’s advanced age, they are optimistic that we haven’t seen the last of Peggy.

OCEAN GUARDIANS: BEHIND THE SCENES
Access a rare behind-the-scenes look into the making of our newest documentary, Ocean Guardians. Created by PWF Documentary Filmmaker Selket Kaufman,
Ocean Guardians recounts the journey of humpback whales as they migrate between Alaska and Hawai‘i while illuminating PWF’s ongoing work to save the species and restore the delicate balance between humankind and marine life. Shot on location in Alaska and Maui, with additional visual support provided by a handful of PWF-aligned photographers and videographers, the film beautifully contrasts Alaska’s wild majesty against the tropical splendor of the Hawaiian Islands.

You can watch this film (and 24 others) by registering for our Online World Whale Film Festival Online, now extended through July 31! Ticket proceeds help protect whales and other marine life through our Research, Education and Conservation programs.
