Redwood City Leaders Celebrate Wins
With Their Platform for Decent and Healthy Housing

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Redwood City City Hall last Monday to celebrate the important gains we've made in making sure Redwood City families can remain in their homes in a safe and dignified way! Since fall of last year, Faith in Action Bay Area leaders have been urging City Council to adopt their Platform for Decent And Healthy Housing, which would prevent landlords from harassing their tenants, limit evictions due to renovation, and create a rental relations office to support the rights of tenants and landlords. Around 300 people showed up to celebrate the City Council adopting two components of our Platform in its Anti-Displacement Strategy! During the City Council meeting later in the evening, a majority of Council expressed support in accelerating the timeline to protect Redwood City's renter families. In addition, due to community pressure, Council also approved a budget doubling staff capacity at the Redwood City Housing Department, from two to four permanent employees.
