Colin L. Powell K-8 Academy
Topping Out Ceremony
A topping-out ceremony was held last month at the Colin L. Powell K-8 Academy (formerly known as the Southern Area K-8 Academy) site to celebrate the last steel beam being placed atop the new building structure. The ceremony, hosted by Gilbane Building Company, was attended by Dr. Monica Goldson (PGCPS CEO), County Executive staff, Brandey McDonald (Fengate Project Director), and Jason Washington (Blueprint Schools Program Director). Attendees provided brief remarks, went on a tour of the construction site, and signed the steel beam. This ceremony marks significant milestones reached within the Blueprint Schools Program as all six school sites are on schedule for summer 2023 delivery.
