Jim Becklenberg Takes Helm as City Manager

 Jim Becklenberg, Littleton's new city manager, began his new role on July 6. Most recently the city manager of Evans, near Greeley, Becklenberg takes the reins from City Manager Mark Relph who retired in June.
"I can't tell you how excited I am to be in Littleton," Becklenberg said. "I'd say it's one of the finest communities in Colorado with such high-quality amenities and great neighborhoods."

Denver Water to Start Project on Main Street Next Week

The city received this Press Release from Denver Water Friday afternoon about a project that will disrupt traffic on Main Street next week:
|
|
Denver Water will be starting a water main replacement project in coordination with the City of Littleton’s upcoming paving and elevated crosswalk installation. As Denver Water’s infrastructure reaches the end of its useful life, specific water mains in need of replacement are identified to ensure you receive a continuous supply of high-quality water.
When: Work will begin the week of July 11 and will take approximately one week to complete. We will make every attempt to complete this project within the stated timeframe; however, as with any construction project, unforeseen circumstances, such as weather conditions, material shortages and crew availability may extend the completion of work. Emergency work may also take priority. Working hours are typically Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., though hours may vary.

What to expect:
- Before work begins:
- “No Parking” signs will be posted in the work area. Street parking will not be available during working hours and vehicles left in the “No Parking” zone may be subject to tow.
- Sandbags will be placed on curb grates to prevent mud and debris from entering the storm drains.
- We will provide a reminder notice on the front door of your property one to three days before work begins on your street.
- During construction:
- Crews will dig a trench and install the new water main. They will also store equipment at the worksite.
- Water outages will be necessary on this project. We will provide a notice with the date and time of the planned water outage on the front door of your property at least 24 hours in advance of the planned water outage. While unlikely, emergency water shut-offs may also occur.
- Afterward:
- Restoration, including asphalt patching, landscaping and concrete will be completed as weather and contractor schedules allow.

Resident Survey Opens to All
|

|
 Littleton is conducting its bi-annual Resident Survey this summer, with postcards sent to over 3,700 households inviting residents to participate in a mail survey.
Starting this week, all residents can participate in an online survey that will help shape how city government addresses pressing topics, new ideas and initiatives.
Both surveys will be open through Tuesday, July 19.
Please share the survey link with family and friends to ensure participation by a wide variety of residents. Responses are confidential and no identifying information will be shared.

Second Saturday Artisan Market Returns July 9
|
|
|
 The Second Saturday Artisan Market returns to Main Street in Downtown Littleton from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9. The market brings live music and local art and artisan vendors to Main Street, including booths featuring jewelry, pottery, clothing, fine art, vintage items and more.
The market's next date is Saturday, August 20, to coincide with the Craft Fair during Western Welcome Week. The remaining 2022 dates are September 10 and October 8.

 Littleton's transportation planners are seeking feedback on the one-year micromobility pilot program that brought e-scooters to town.
The city partnered with Bird Rides, Inc. on the pilot program in 2021. City officials have been monitoring the program and are now collecting feedback from residents and business owners.
Below is a short survey that asks scooter users their habits on scooters, and non-riders about their perception of the scooters. The survey closes Sunday, July 24.

Opening Reception July 14 for "škhé: it is said"
|

|
The Littleton Museum will hold the opening reception for a groundbreaking art exhibit from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14.
"škhé: it is said" is an early-career body of work by Denver artist Danielle SeeWalker, an enrolled Citizen of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe ("škhé" is the sounds 'shh', then 'kay', pronounced together as 'shkay').
SeeWalker works across disciplines to explore the intersections of Native American stereotypes, microaggressions, and colonialist systems, both historically and in contemporary society. Drawing on au courant color palettes, expressionistic art strategies, and her Lakota traditions, SeeWalker spins her work into a contemporary vision to elevate historical perspectives as told from the side not often heard.
Exhibit Dates: Friday, July 15 – Sunday, October 9, 2022

1800s Independence Day Base Ball Game

|
The Littleton Rough & Readies played against the Colorado Territorial All-Stars in an 1860s-rules "base ball" game at the Littleton Museum's 1800s Independence Day event July 2. The Littleton team was nearly victorious and had a lot of fun regardless of the outcome. Over 600 people came by to enjoy the game. Fantastic job to both teams!

Littleton Museum Hosts James Webb Space Telescope First Images Reveal

|
|
Join the Littleton Museum and space fans around the world as they live-stream the first images coming back from the NASA James Webb Space Telescope!
NASA will release the telescope's first full-color images and spectroscopic data during a televised broadcast beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 12. The broadcast will last approximately one hour. Following the broadcast, the museum will have a small craft project based on the hexagonal panels of Webb's mirror for participants to enjoy.
