BAGS is aimed at sharing the love of Jesus Christ by providing basic school supplies and backpacks to children who are in dire need in the slums of Metro Manila, Philippines. The kids who are helped by BAGS live in extreme poverty. Their parents send them to school without a single school supply because they cannot afford them.
Every year since 2009, BAGS, founded by New City Covenant Partner Sheila Evert, has helped thousands of school children by providing them backpacks and basic school supplies. Sheila partners with churches, schools and teachers, mission organizations like New City’s global ministry partner Companion with the Poor (CWTP), family, and friends. This year, the school supplies gathered by New City Kids will go to the ministries of CWTP, including one of their 10 ongoing church plants and supporting the ministry of 4 new church plants in Manila.
