Hi Kids’ Power Up Kids and Parents,

Well, the tents are going up tomorrow and then we'll be ready for Kids' Power Up!

On Monday morning at 8:30 am, please bring your kids to our name tag tables at the tents right behind Velma Baker School (map below). There will be 4 tables this year, one for each age group (Gr 1&2 - Orange tags, Gr 3&4 - Yellow tags, Gr 5&6 - Green tags.) and a New Registrations table as well. Please check the back of your child's name tag as it will have their emergency contact info on it. If there's any information that needs changed or added, there will also be a binder at each table with all the kids information in it as well. Simply find your child's info and add to it if needed.

Our staff will be eager to help your kids get there stuff put in the right tents and then kids can go to the park and play until we're ready to start. We'll have lots of leaders down there as well. There will be about 80 of us walking around with blue name tags so it won't be hard to find a leader if you have a question.

Monday morning is always a little bit of a challenge to get things up and going as we need to get kids into groups. It always takes some time but we try our best to get friends with friends. If for some reason, we miss the boat on this one, please let me know and we'll figure out a solution.

Weather, Sunscreen & Mosquito Repellant

Next week is looking ... AWESOME! Please apply sunscreen before the kids come and pack some with them if possible. We’ll reapply at lunch as we want to send your kids home each day happy and unsunburnt. Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that with all of the rain we’ve had, the mosquitos may be in full force. So, preapplied mosquito repellant would be a good idea as well.

The important thing is to please check the forecast each day and then plan your kids' clothing options accordingly. Since it’s going to be HOT, a hat and a refillable water bottle are important.

PLEASE PUT YOUR KIDS' NAMES ON THEIR STUFF, COATS, LUNCH BAGS, SUNSCREEN OR ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET BACK. I'm amazed every year by our lost and found piles. If those items had names on them, they would easily have found their way back to you.

Tuesday, weather permitting is Waterday (actually Water Afternoon but Waterday sounds better). I'll email more details on Monday evening about it. At the moment, Tuesday is looking like the perfect day to get wet!

Thursday evening will be our KPU Barbecue from 5:30 to about 7 pm. Please bring the entire family, grand parents, friends or whoever else you want to invite. We'll serve burgers and hotdogs (there will be a vegetarian option as well and a very limited gluten free option) until either everyone is full or the mountain of food is gone. It's all included with your registration so no more $'s are required. The kids will take their crafts home that night and sing some of their favourite songs (with much enthusiasm).

This year we are once again collecting food for the Edmonton Food Bank. We'll have a friendly competition between the different age groups to see who can bring the most food. We're aiming for for 500 KG! An added bonus will be that the winning age group will get to go first in our Friday afternoon Carnival.

Other last minute details:
PICK UP TIME each day is at 4 PM.
Kids need to bring a lunch each day.
Again, A water bottle with their name on it is also a great idea.
