Our pioneering heritage

Our history dates back to 1888, the year in which the first generation of the Ruys family started the plant nursery “Moerheim” in Dedemsvaart, the Netherlands. Bonne Ruys started with the breeding of vegetable seeds, shrubs and perennials which became a huge success and made the company’s name throughout the continent.

Future pioneers & trends

Starting from a uniquely distinctive proposition, we want to strengthen our position within the European floricultural market. We have created well-known trademarks from top quality genetics. Our new goal is to push our famous trademarks to recognizable and strong consumer brands within wholesale and (online) retail.

Passionate pioneers

For our researchers, product developers and specialists, it’s sometimes difficult to explain exactly what they do. We often work on particularly complex matters, with unique technologies and a great foresight into the future. Moreover, our employees are modest and don’t easily take credit for what has been achieved. But explaining how things work and what the future might look like is something we, “the plant pioneers” are best at.

The pioneers badge

We created a pioneers badge to use as a simple and unified ‘house of (plant) brands’ symbol on our individual (power) brand communications. Having found the perfect wordmark and an impeccable tagline, we wanted to create a meaningful badge in terms of shape and design language. The badge shape becomes a recognizable main theme through all our corporate communications.

Power Flower 20th anniversary

It’s been already 20 years since Sundaville® started spreading love, happiness, and joy with its bright varieties, shapes, and colours. The world's first true Red Mandevilla / dipladenia (Sundaville® Red) variety was introduced already 2 decades ago. How incredible is it?! How far we have come together to create this success story.
