New Blog Post Alert: Meet Hyacinth Bellerose from Friendly City Safe Space

Our interns sat down with the wonderful Hyacinth Bellerose to learn about their story, their journey with identity, and the long-term goals of their organization.

Hyacinth reached out to HDR in hopes that we could assist them in finding a downtown location for Friendly City Safe Space; we were in fact able to do so (even before the last tenants completely moved out!) and are proud to welcome FCSS as our newest neighbors at the ICE House!

The Downtown Dish

Pupusas de Frijoles y Queso from Latin’s Flavor

Have you tried the pupusas de frijoles y queso from Latin’s Flavor? What are pupusas you ask? Pupusas are tortillas made of corn or rice dough and then stuffed with various ingredients. Fun fact- Leonardo Dicaprio noted in an interview that he is a “Pupusa Man” and prefers them over tacos. Head to the family-owned restaurant Latin’s Flavor and order one for yourself!

Is there a downtown dish that you think everyone needs to know about? Tag @downtownharrisonburg in your Instagram food posts (or send us a message on Facebook) and your photo could be featured in an upcoming newsletter!
