WE DID IT! On June 24th— we woke up to the news that after 18 months of hard work, our tireless efforts to restore our communities dignity and sense of home is now closer to being possible with the successful purchase of Talent Mobile Estates which will soon be the first-ever resident owned community in Southern Oregon! Establishing Talent Mobile Estates as a Resident-Owned Community (ROC) is just the first of many real long-term permanent affordable housing solutions to come.

El 24 de junio, nos despertamos con la noticia de que después de 18 meses de mucho trabajo, nuestros incansables esfuerzos para restaurar la dignidad y el sentido de hogar de nuestras comunidades ahora están más alcanzable de ser posibles con la compra exitosa de Talent Mobile Estates, que pronto será la primera -comunidad de propiedad de los residentes (ROC) en el sur de Oregón! Al establecer Talent Mobile Estates como una comunidad propiedad de los residentes es solo la primera de muchas soluciones reales de vivienda accesible a largo plazo por venir.
This victory validates our dream and proves the possibility of us growing a local movement of restoring our local solidarity economy for working-class families.

IT TOOK ALL OF US Making your dreams come true requires enormous amounts of faith, commitment and Fortaleza. We couldn’t have done this without the guidance of our community elders, their strong spirits and faith in our collective resilience. In October of 2020 the dream was seeded in a room full of despair and grief - like a guiding light the question emerged, “what if we just bought our neighborhoods back?”
Although then we had no clear path forward, knowing that we were some of the first to take on this journey locally, what really brought hope to our hearts was thinking of this being possible.
TOMÓ TODOS NOSOTROS Hacer realidad tus sueños requiere enormes cantidades de fe, compromiso y Fortaleza. No podríamos haber hecho esto sin la guía de los ancianos de nuestra comunidad, su espíritu fuerte y su fe en nuestra resiliencia colectiva. En octubre de 2020, el sueño se sembró en una habitación llena de desesperación y dolor; como una luz guía, surgió la pregunta: "¿Qué pasaría si compráramos y retomamos nuestros vecindarios?"
Aunque no teníamos claro el camino, sabiendo que éramos unas de las primeras en emprender este viaje localmente, lo que realmente trajo esperanza a nuestros corazones fue pensar en que esto era posible.
STRENGTH OF HEART IN TIMES OF CRISIS When we find ourselves lost in our grief and pain there is no other option but to fight for what we know we deserve. Hope requires bravery. Dreaming awake helps pave the way for possibility. Though we knew no path forward we set out to find those who could help us make it happen! We want to whole-heartedly thank our partners and allies who made this happen with us and yes- we thank even the adversaries and haters who helped show us we had the grit and strength to overcome all the forces that were against us. ALWAYS LEANING ON OUR VISION AND OUR PEOPLE. Thank you adversaries for helping us to learn just how much more powerful we are than what we thought and just how true it is that when we fight with love in our hearts, victory finds us.
FUERZA DE CORAZÓN EN TIEMPOS DE CRISIS Cuando nos encontramos perdidos en nuestra pena y dolor no queda otra opción que luchar por lo que sabemos y lo que merecemos. La esperanza requiere valentía. Soñar despierto/a ayuda a allanar el camino para la posibilidad. ¡Aunque no conocíamos el camino para seguir, nos propusimos encontrar aquellos que pudieran ayudarnos a hacerlo realidad! RETURNING POWER TO THE HEARTS OF IMPACTED FAMILIES This victory will be returning power, agency, wealth and autonomy to the hands of 89 families. In this ROC families will be able to self-govern. No more landlords. No more market-driven rent hikes. No more management harassment. No more waiting for foreign investors to decide when and how we rebuild our homes when they burn down. Decision-making power will be fully in the hands of families. Now our families will be able to set their own park rules, vote and decide on their rent fees, grow their home equity and have secure long-term housing!

No más esperar a que los inversionistas extranjeros decidan cuándo y cómo reconstruir nuestros hogares cuando se incendian. El poder de decisión estará totalmente en manos de las familias. ¡Ahora nuestras familias podrán establecer sus propias reglas del parque, votar y decidir sobre sus tarifas de alquiler, aumentar el valor de su vivienda y tener una vivienda segura a largo plazo!
THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING We still have a long way to go in our efforts to restore affordable housing for our people. We lost about 2,800 homes in the #AlmedaFire, 70% of those were the manufactured homes where our people lived and had established a tight knit community that has helped us survive the pressures of capitalism. We look forward to seeing Talent Mobile Estates bloom into an even more vibrant and lively community than before the fires and we hope this will be the first of many yet to come.
ESTE ES SÓLAMENTE EL COMIENZO Todavía tenemos un largo camino por recorrer en nuestros esfuerzos para restaurar viviendas asequibles para nuestra gente. Perdimos alrededor de 2800 casas en el #AlmedaFire, el 70 % de ellas eran casas prefabricadas donde vivía nuestra gente y había establecido una comunidad muy unida que nos ha ayudado a sobrevivir las presiones del capitalismo.
