All Scientists Meeting Special Issue | July 2022
This special newsletter contains crucial information about the 2022 LTER Science Council Meeting. For questions about this newsletter or regular LTER Network News newsletters, contact Gabriel De La Rosa (delarosa@nceas.ucsb.edu).

All Scientists' Meeting Registration

The registration site for the LTER All Scientists' Meeting is now live! Learn more about the conference on the conference website, or head straight over to the registration site and line up your room. We have reserved the entire Asilomar conference center from September 19-23 and can accommodate over 600 LTER participants. This makes for a meeting that is both vibrant and intimate.

The "Generations" meeting theme points to the dedication of researchers who may commit entire careers to understanding the mechanisms at work in ecosystem science. It also signifies the changes in technology, culture, and perspective that emerge over long timescales.

Facilitating Participatory Workshops webinar

Science workshops teach complicated concepts to a wide audience—and nailing the balance between highly technical science, accessible information, and inclusive participation can be tricky. In this workshop, Dr. Carrie Kappel covers strategies that make workshops more accessible to all, with an eye towards better LTER All Scientists Meeting Workshops. Open to all!

Workshop takes place July 27, 2022, 9:00 am PT/12:00 pm ET. Register to attend!

DEIJ Storytellers Needed for the ASM

As part of the LTER ASM this fall, an evening storytelling session called Seeds of Change will feature 4-5 speakers from different roles, identities, and career stages at LTER sites, telling their personal experiences of change – or attempted change – in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice at LTER sites. We welcome ideas from potential storytellers willing to get up on stage and share a 10-minute story about their personal experience of diversity + inclusion at an LTER site. LTER Photo Contest is underway!

Compete for prizes, highlight your site, and help generate images for our new photo sharing website. Contest period runs until August 31, and winners will be announced at the All Scientists' Meeting. Open to all LTER folks—researchers, grad students, undergrads, REU's, and more! For more information, see the contest announcement.

Announcing the LTER REU Webinar Series

REUs do crucial work across the network each summer, and they need to get up to speed fast! This summer, we're hosting a webinar series just for REUs. The second session focuses on communicating REU science with an eye toward the All Scientists' Meeting, but the lessons taught are widely applicable. See the full announcement here. Stay tuned for a recording of the first session posted to our YouTube page.
