Multicultural Announcement

Now that we have eased into the summer months, there is much to celebrate! Fourth of July kicked off the month celebrating 246 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence (7/4). Thursday (7/14) is International Non-Binary People’s Day, which aims to raise awareness of the issues faced by non-binary people around the world while celebrating their contributions.

This is the anniversary of the 1990 signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The purpose of the ADA is to prevent employment discrimination and allow those with disabilities better access to services, goods, and communications. The Office of Academic Training and Outreach Programs (ATOP) is currently recruiting up to 16 postdoctoral fellows, physician fellows, and research staff to judge scientific posters at the CHOP Research Institute Summer Scholars Program (CRISSP) poster session on Thursday, August 11 from 11:30am-1:00pm in the Abramson Lobby.

CRISSP is a highly competitive summer internship program for undergraduate students interested in careers in biomedical research. Thirty students have been selected to participate this summer from a pool of over 500 applicants.

As part of their internship experience, all CRISSP students must complete an independent research project presented during the August 11 poster session. Judges will be asked to visit several assigned posters during the judging period and identify the best research project.  Judging criteria will be provided to guide the selection process. A judges meeting will be held at 1:00pm in Abramson 124, 1st floor to discuss the winners.

Students will be split into two judging tracks: Basic/Translational and Clinical/Behavioral. We are looking for 8 basic/translational research judges and 8 clinical/behavioral research judges.
