Today we are excited to be launching the Northern Territory Volunteer of the Year Awards 2022. The Awards, in their thirteenth year are a highlight on the NT events calendar and are a fabulous way to recognise the outstanding contribution of the Northern Territory volunteers, volunteer involving organisations, corporate volunteering programs and volunteer managers at work in our community. More information is detailed in the article below.
I am pleased to announce the current volunteering dollar replacement hourly figure for Australia is currently $46.62 per hour, and for NT $45.30 and, SA $42.40. More information is detailed in the article below.
Last week, during #NAIDOC2022 we recognised the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Increasing opportunities for everyone to volunteer, including First Nations People, People with Disability and Newly Arrived Migrants, is paramount. We look forward to reducing the barriers to volunteering, and building capacity for diversity and inclusion in the volunteer base.
As always, stay safe and keep volunteering!

AGED CARE VOLUNTEERING
Registrations of interest for Aged Care Volunteering close on 31 July 2022. A few hours of companionship and social support could mean the world to an aged care resident. Unfortunately many residents don't have visitors, and volunteers can help lesson social isolation and loneliness. Please consider sharing some free time to become an aged care volunteer.

Volunteering SA&NT have updated the volunteering dollar replacement hourly rate figure (average) for Australia to $46.62 per hour. This is taken from the biannual ABS average weekly earnings; with the methodology following Assoc Prof, Dr Lisel O’Dwyer’s approach to calculating a dollar value figure, and is one of the calculations forming the overall value of volunteering figure.
