For more than 20 years, California voters have entrusted Indian tribes with the right to operate highly regulated casinos on their tribal land, helping promote Indian self-sufficiency. In November, California voters could be presented with sports wagering propositions on the November 2022 statewide ballot.

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of the Coalition for Safe, Responsible Gaming, led by California Indian Tribes, to request you join us in supporting the Tribal Sports Wagering Act.

As an organization that prides itself on advocating in support of Black-owned businesses in California, we request you take a position on this measure:

PLEASE SUPPORT the Tribal Sports Wagering Act  that will authorize highly regulated, in-person sports wagering at tribal casinos and select horse racing tracks. This measure will uplift tribal and non-tribal communities alike—promoting Indian self-sufficiency while generating tens of millions of dollars each year to address California’s priorities.

I have attached a fact sheet that explains the measure in more detail. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

What is the process your organization typically uses for taking positions on ballot measures? We’re happy to make a presentation to your board or any committees as needed.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. You can always reach me via email or directly at 916 524-8080.
