Coltano, a small town in the rural area surrounding Pisa, is the place where Guglielmo Marconi broadcasted from his first radio station in Italy – and one of the first radio stations of the world. The radio station of Coltano – which is still present today – was inaugurated by Marconi himself in 1911.
AREA Meets the World will build upon the history and legacy of this place and create a conversation in a two-way local-global route, which will connect the cradle of modern telecommunications to Ireland (as it was in 1911!), Germany and Mexico.

The talks are part of a broader programme of music, conversations, podcasts and lectures under the evocative title of Good morning, Coltano!, which will take place every day of that long weekend between 6PM and 10PM. With this programme, it is in fact our intention to relive the moment when a first signal, this time a Peace signal, will connect Coltano with distant places, such as Claremorris and Berlin, and even going Overseas, travelling in that mare magnum that is nowadays the communication via the web.
From Coltano we want to send out a signal that unites us all, the communities near and far, the artists who will intervene, under the sign of Live Arts, Music, Art and Culture, co-existing in this context with the Landscape and with the peculiar Nature of this place, that special genius loci.

Good morning, Coltano! is a webradio project coordinated by Code per Curiosi APS, a young non-profit organisation based in Camaiore (LU), Italy. The live broadcast will take place in the frame of the 110 Hertz Festival - Second edition, in Coltano (PI), during the 15th - 16th - 17th of July 2022, organised by Binario Vivo, a theatre organisation based in Pisa.
