Starting Tuesday 19th July 6:30pm from Lime Wood Fields
Sally invites all club members who have been away from running for whatever reason, to get back to running with her in an easy, inclusive group. The pace will be easy, the distance starting at approx 3 miles, and the aim to find your run mojo and get back to running!

Please book in via Nifty in the usual way.
Ironman 70.3 Finland
Well done to Jackie Henson, who took part in Ironman 70.3 Finland and appears to have caught the triathlon bug!

Hear from Jackie for a bit of Wednesday motivation: "I joined the club after Christmas and did some swim technique sessions with Christine and Ina, as I have pretty much only just learnt how to swim properly and joined a couple of the social rides.

I have only ever took part in a super sprint before, but this weekend took part in Ironman Finland 70.3.

First time doing anything remotely like this and loved it. My goal was to enjoy the race and get over the finish line. I completed the course in 7hrs 31min.

It has definitely encouraged me to get out there and get more training done so I can compete in another one next year."

Deva Divas 2022

Last weekend saw the famous Deva Divas race take place.

Well done to all the ladies that took part! Well done to Charlotte Towers for coming 4th overall, Tracy Aldridge-Jones for coming 2nd in AG, to Vicky Brown for coming 3d in AG, and to Karen Smith, Claire Rowlands, Emily Jones, Naomi Simmons, Katharine Burton, Cathrine Howells, Liz Shanklin, Judi Ebbrell and Rachael Wray for representing CTC!

You can find the full results
here.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out over the weekend and at training sessions, and helped to make the event such a success!

Here are just a small selection of comments from very happy athletes:

"Many thanks for yesterday race, I really enjoyed it even though it was possibly one of the hottest I’ve done!! All of the marshals were excellent too, so please pass on my thanks."

"Today was my first ever triathlon and I can’t thank you enough!"

"From the moment I arrived for registration to departure at the end of the event, I was so impressed with the level of organisation, the provision for the events themselves; from facilities to merchandise, and the wonderful marshals. This was only my third triathlon, and I loved it from start to finish! The event stood shoulders above my previous two events. The atmosphere and vibe were wonderful also. I'm counting the days already to the next Deva Divas!"

"I’ll definitely be back next year!"

"Your passion shone through all day, goodness knows how you stayed so calm and in control."

"Your ‘compere’ was incredible, I have no idea how he kept going so enthusiastically from beginning to end, please pass on my congratulations and thanks to him."

"It was great to get the times through from nifty entries almost as soon as I had finished and I am looking forward to seeing the photos (I tried to smile for them but it wasn’t always easy)."

"And last but not least thank you to all the amazing marshals. I felt really well supported all the way round the bike section and the good people of Chester were so accommodating as they waited for me to turn at junctions with good cheer."

"It was my first Deva Divas and I loved every minute of it. My highlights included the practice cycle route organised a few weeks before hand, the ringing of bells along the bike route, the glorious swim which was so nice and cool I didn’t want to get out, the fantastic compere and the awards ceremony at the end. I especially love my t-shirt and the wonderful goodies we received, a real treat!"

"You all need a massive medal and jeroboam of champagne to celebrate your success."

"Thank you so much for an amazing day ....... again! You have created something amazing there!"

Run Update

The Druid Fell Race

A small but enthusiastic group of like minded nutters from Chester Tri completed The Druid Fell Race last Wednesday. This is part of the Clywydian Wednesday night fell race series and for those who have not had the opportunity to try them, you really are missing out!

Whilst most of the runners warmed up in the usual manner, the group took themselves off to try a little ‘alternative’ warm up session! After much huffing and puffing it was all too much for Iain Wood who failed to complete the climbing frame.

There was one consolation for all the groups efforts after the gruelling race, a little rehydration session!

Stage 4 – July: Tattenhall – The queen stage

https://www.strava.com/routes/2927153659140100292

This is the years Queen stage with our longest sprint and K/QOM. The Queen stage is the one stage each year where extra points are on offer for the Sprint and K/QOM competition with a summit finish on Harthill!

Please be cautious, potential difficult points are by the skip before Tattenhall, queuing cars can mean less room. Also be aware in Tattenhall high street, there is a rare right hand turn to be aware of!

Enjoy and do please ride safely, it’s just a bit of fun, there are far more important things in life!
