Greetings, Peaceful Warrior:

Many people have asked me why I share quotations by other people instead of offering my  own thoughts. I do this because I share plenty of original expressions in my books, and, besides; nobody is smarter than all of us. To help navigate through the school of daily life, I find and share wisdom from many sources. ( After all, the proverb goes: “One Light, many lamps.”

So, here’s another proverb worth sharing:
“Each of us needs three mirrors in our home:
The first, to show us as we are in our own eyes;
the second, as our neighbors see us;
and the third, as we are capable of becoming.”
- Proverb

Since the release of Peaceful Heart, Warrior Spirit, I’ve been interviewed by many podcast and radio hosts. You might enjoy tuning in to one of the interviews at random for a few minutes, using the comments as an oracle that may speak to your current circumstances.

Words and Language

How we use our words, our spoken thoughts, can make a difference.

In the last newsletter, we explored the significant difference of using statements that take our identity and worth off the table. By using “I practice…”, instead of “I am a…”, we are making a subtle change that has a notable impact.

Instead of saying “I have to…”, say “I get to…”. Instead of having to take the kids to school, finish the project, or make dinner, you get to do all of these things. By changing a single word, you instantly shift your perspective and attitude, reminding you of the privilege and opportunity it is to serve others and live a human life on Planet Earth.

Let me pose a question for you to consider. What if, for whatever reason, you were not allowed (or able) to do these daily tasks? Would this expand or diminish your life?

More food for your soul…

“Two men looked out of prison bars;
once saw mud and the other saw stars.”
- Serbian proverb

Speaking of words, I thought the ones in the image below might bring you a smile:
“Drawing on my fine command of the English language, I said nothing.”
- Robert Benchley

A Note to Parents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles

New audiobook editions of my award-winning debut children's books, Secret of the Peaceful Warrior and the adventure-sequel, Quest for the Crystal Castle, both narrated by me, are now available at Audible.com, Amazon, and Apple. These uplifting and illuminating audiobooks spark children's imagination as they learn (non-preachy) lessons about courage and kindness.
