Hampton in the ’70s and ’80s talk this Thursday

Newsletter date: 12 July, 2022

Dear Hampton Society supporter,

Plus the Waterworks webinar is this evening. Details below…

Society talk by John Sheaf:
Hampton in the ’70s & ’80s talk

We have a great talk at St Mary’s community hall on Thursday evening. John Sheaf will be speaking about his latest book – Images of Hampton in the 1970s and 1980s. Lots of tales, great pictures and he will be selling copies of his books.

Derek and Mary May will be running our refreshments bar where you can enjoy a drink and socialise with other Soiety members before the talk and during the interval.

I hope as many of our members can attend as I know it will be a fascinating insight into how Hampton has changed since then.

Thursday, 14 July at 7.30pm for 8.00pm at St Mary’s community hall.

Revised Plans for the former Hampton Waterworks, Upper Sunbury Road, Hampton, TW12 2ES Webinar invitation

Tuesday 12 July

Martin Hughes from the developer’s public affairs company Polity, has contacted me about an update on this proposed development of this industrial building which is currently in a sorry state of repair. Martin writes:

“You may recall that there were some previous proposals in 2019 for restoration works and additional development to bring Hampton’s Victorian Waterworks back to life. These proposals included new homes and employment space.

“Work is currently underway on a revised scheme and prior to the submission of a new planning application to Richmond Council we are keen to get community feedback on the draft proposals. We will be holding a live video presentation (webinar) by the architects via Zoom at 6.30pm on Tuesday 12th July and you would be most welcome to join this.

“You are invited to join our Webinar on 12th July at 6.30pm to find out more!

“It’s very simple to join in. Enter polityuk.co/hw in your browser and you’ll be taken to registration. You’ll need to have the Zoom app on your computer, tablet or smart device – please go to zoom.us/download if you do not already have this.

“You can also register by scanning the QR code below by using the camera on your mobile device.”
