We sent out a email earlier in the week with lots of top tips and advice of how to stay safe and well. If you missed it you can view it using the blue button below.
Earlier start for waste and recycling collections on Monday
To beat the heat, waste and recycling crews are starting collection rounds earlier so they can avoid the extreme temperatures.
If your rubbish, recycling or garden waste is due to be collected on Monday 18 July please put it out to be collected from 6am instead of the usual 7am. If you’re putting it out the night before, make sure it's covered so the gulls or other wildlife can’t get to it.
Please help spread the word to your friends and neighbours too.
We’ll post an update on the Council’s social media channels and on the waste and recycling web page if collections on Tuesday 19 July will be affected.
Health services in Cornwall are extremely busy with immense pressures on the local ambulance service and A&E department. Unless it’s life-threatening please don't turn up at one of Cornwall's hospitals without contacting NHS 111 first.
Hospitals, health and care services are all under significant pressure. The NHS is asking people in of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly to consider if their medical issue is something they can treat themselves or speak to a pharmacist about, or to contact their own GP.
If you aren’t sure which service to use, call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk if you need urgent health advice, but it's not an emergency.
The first of the government's payments to help with the cost of living crisis will be arriving in bank accounts from this week until 31 July.

Pensioners, disabled people and tax credit claimants will receive their first cost of living instalment by autumn.
Cornwall Council, Public Health Cornwall and NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly are teaming up to try and stop missed school days because of COVID-19 by encouraging parents to vaccinate their children.
We want to give children in Cornwall the best start in life, part of that is providing a good level of education.
Getting vaccinated is a good way to help slow the spread of the virus and it can reduce the risk of your child passing on the illness to those around them, especially vulnerable and elderly family members.
Vaccinations are now available for all children over the age of 5 and child friendly clinics, including sensory lighting, therapy dogs and music, are being set up at sites across Cornwall, to help put children at ease.

The next meeting of our Cornish National Minority Working Group is taking place on Wednesday 20 July and you're invited to take part.
The Cornish National Minority Working Group is made up of Cornwall Councillors and supported by nominated representatives from Gorsedh Kernow and Council officers. The group are working to raise the profile of the Cornish National Minority both here in Cornwall, and further afield. They're working alongside government officials to strengthen our devolved powers so that Cornish people have greater control over Cornish issues.
They will be holding a public engagement session on Wednesday 20 July at 6pm, with the theme of ‘Education’. Will Coleman will be presenting the work so far with Go Cornish, providing Cornish language resources for schools, and we will be providing an update on how Cornish language, arts and culture can feed into our schools.
Back in May 2020, we were given the right under emergency communication measures to use your email address to send you urgent information about Covid and the pandemic.
Now that we’re moving into a new phase of learning to live with COVID-19, we’ll be changing the focus of these emails. They are likely to include less COVID-19 news and guidance and more in the way of general information about Cornwall Council services that we think you’ll find useful.
We will, of course, continue to keep you updated on any further COVID-19 developments, as well.
If you no longer want to receive these emails with helpful information about Cornwall and the services we provide, please click the link below to unsubscribe.
