It's that time of the year! Our annual fundraiser, the Global Solidarity Challenge, is less than a week away!!
From July 18th to 23rd, the VIDEA community will come together to raise funds to support our work! This fundraiser is super important - it is the reason we are able to continue doing the work we do. And, it's FUN! Participants have SO many creative and thoughtful challenges planned, each showing solidarity in their own unique way!

Why Solidarity? Well, VIDEA’s work and values are grounded in solidarity. During the GSC, we demonstrate what solidarity means to each of us by participating in challenges that draw attention to global issues and spark conversations, which can lead to real change!

This year's theme: Foragers and Scavengers
|
|
|
We love a bit of healthy competition so we've split up into six teams, each named after a forager or scavenger who has a lot to teach us about adapting to ever-changing environments:
|

At VIDEA, we recognize the integral role climate justice plays in gender equality, social justice, human rights, disability rights, and decolonization, as all these things are interconnected. Foragers and scavengers have proven that life on this planet can adapt to extreme climates and change. We will take inspiration from our scrappy relatives as we move forward into the future that we are envisioning and creating together. This year, we are declaring our intention to showcase the strength of our community in the face of an uncertain future.
We are looking forward to sharing the AWESOME challenges folks have come up with! Hint: eating as local as possible, plant scavenger hunts, zero food waste, creative transportation, minimizing energy and water consumption, and more!

A Super Special Storytelling Event
|
|
|
Join us on Monday, July 18th, at 7PM (PT) / 10PM (ET) / 4AM (Tuesday morning, Zambia) for an extra special Global Solidarity Storytelling: Just Transition Edition! Our storytellers include two Energy Champions, a Mushroom Expert, a UBC Doctorate Student, and more! By the end of our evening, you will have a fuller understanding of the Just Transition!
