Artios - which means equipped, proficient, or competent - was launched in 2017 as an in-depth training program to prepare our members to serve as ministry leaders in the church. Students in the program spend three years diving into a curriculum that spans the old and new testaments, covers the topics of basic theology and apologetics, and teaches practical ministry skills.

This fall Artios will be entering its sixth year. To date, the program has graduated 29 people into various positions of leadership and ministry within the church. Nearly 20 of those graduates are serving as Life Group leaders. Others are teaching in retirement homes, serving in children’s ministry, and leading discipleship groups. A couple participants even chose to enter seminary as a result of their Artios studies!

Although Artios requires a small tuition fee, the ministry would not be able to accomplish all it has without the regular giving from our church family. Your generosity has provided each graduate a solid foundation upon which they can build to teach the Bible and share the gospel.
If you are interested in applying to be part of the Fall 2022 cohort, you can do that here. Preview the Artios video below to hear from past participants about their Artios experience.
Be Part of the Work
You can be part of the tremendous good happening in our world through your giving, praying, and serving.

Bob's Retirement Reception  |  August 21
After over four decades in youth ministry (38 of those years at First Woodway), the one and only Bob Johns is retiring. Celebrate Bob with us on August 21, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in the Worship Center. We will be writing BARF notes (Be A Real Friend Notes…it’s a camp thing) to show our love and appreciation for his years of ministry. This is a come-and-go event, but feel free to come-and-stay if you’d like. We’ll see you there!

New Believers' 101 Class for Kids  |  July 17
This class is a pre-requisite for children in grades 2 and up to be baptized at First Woodway. We believe that baptism is an outward symbol of an inward decision to follow Christ, and the material covered in this class is for kids who have already accepted Jesus into their lives. In addition to baptism, we will discuss what being a Christian means, worship, and how children can begin to grow in their Christian walk. Each child will receive a workbook and devotion book at the end of the class. This class is only for children in second grade through sixth grade. We will meet at 9:30 am in Room 1206.

Blood Drive  |  July 17
Carter BloodCare will be doing a mobile blood drive outside the MAC on Sunday, July 17 from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. If you would like to make an appointment to give blood, click here. A photo ID is required, and donors will receive a beach towel as a thank-you (while supplies last)!

Mission Trip: Belize  |  July 24
Please be in prayer for our youth as they head to Belize! They will put on a VBS, help with work projects, make hospital visits, and minister in a local orphanage.

Partner Lunch  |  July 24
One of our partners sent out from First Woodway will be here to share what's happening in their country in Central Asia. Come to The Venue at 12:00 pm to hear their stories, connect with them, and be a part of what God is doing in the nations! Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Sherrie Anderson so we can get a number for lunch. All are welcome to come!

New Member Workshop  |  July 24
We are thrilled that you desire to learn more about becoming a member at First Woodway. In this informational session, you will learn our core beliefs and values, get to know the church staff, participate in a Q&A, and share dinner together. The next New Member Workshop is July 24 from 5:00-7:00 pm in The Venue. Childcare is available. You can register here.

Kingdom Kids Disciple Makers
A disciple maker is a Christian who enters into relationship with people to help them trust and follow Jesus. This is based on Jesus’ example of love (John 13:34-35) and His final command in Matthew 28:19-20. Disciple Making is for every Christian! The Kingdom Kids Children’s Ministry needs Disciple Makers. Will you join us as we disciple the next generation? We are currently seeking 200 Disciple Makers for the 2022/2023 Sunday School year. Please let Barbra know that you would love to discuss this further by filling out this short form.

Teacher Appreciation Drive-Thru Breakfast  |  August 9
Every year in the state of Texas, teachers spend around 1,260 hours pouring into kids' lives. We would like to show our appreciation for our local teachers with our annual Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. Each teacher will receive breakfast, a gift bag, and prayer as they dive into the new school year… but we can’t do it without you. We need a team to help pass out food, pray with the teachers, and set-up/tear-down. If you want to go the extra mile to say THANKS to these teachers, set-up starts at 5:45 am and the drive-thru will be open from 6:30 - 9:30 am. You can sign-up to volunteer on VOMO. WE LOVE YOU TEACHERS!
