Our purpose simply put; loving God, serving others, doing no harm.
For the next few Sundays our 10a Worship messages; Faith, Hope & Love will come to us by certified lay speaker, Jane Stone.  Her home church is First UM of Red WIng
Jane grew up in First United Methodist Church of Red Wing and is always looking for ways to serve the church that played so prominently in her spiritual development. She has a master’s degree in education and is a retired middle school teacher. Jane taught Sunday School for 29 years and has served on
every committee within First Church. At the district level, she served five years as District Lay Leader and eight years on the District Committee on the Superintendency. At the conference level, Jane serves on the Lay Ministry Action Team and Elected Leader Team and also serves as the Lay Servant Ministries Registrar. As a certified lay speaker, she provides pulpit supply as requested in other churches. Jane has a special interest in caring ministries.  Jane is married to Bob, an experienced member of First Church Board of Trustees. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, Jane enjoys spending time with family, reading, writing, baking, and watching the birds and other wildlife that share their wooded property.

Good News!  It is the intentions of Minnesota Annual Conference, Interim Bishop David Bard, to appoint
Rev Hannah Choi to a half-time appointment at
Mt Bethel Church, effective August 1, 2022.

Outcome of our All Church meeting Facilitated by DS Cynthia Williams on Sunday July 10th.  Approval of our 2022-2023 leadership team, communicated below and our website. And ... Mt Bethel Church enter into Legacy Ministry; continue as Mt Bethel is now, making a few changes; continue weekly worship in a way that is life giving for all involved. Lean into age reality and focus on continuing to minister to one another offering care and support; focus on other aging people, rather than trying to reach the younger people right now.  A Chaplain type ministry, chaplain pastor at half-time appointment to lead weekly worship and other chaplaincy type needs including but not limited to offering communion, spiritual care to worship attenders, visitations to homebound or care facility members and life celebrations.  Committing to - a) A season of Prayer - to discern how God might lead us in developing a Legacy Ministry for the future Mt. Bethel. b) A season of letting go in order to leave a legacy.  As part of the Prayer initiative, pray for a planter who, under the direction of the Director of New Church Development, over the next two years will launch a transformational ministry to reach new people in the Mt Bethel mission field. c) Live well and be well in this time of simply being, but doing it the best we can, allowing the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead us ever forward in this unique way.

The previously scheduled Wed. July 20, 7pm Ad Board meeting has been moved back one week to July 27, at 7pm
Reason: In making ready for the appointment of Rev Choi to Mt Bethel, there is a need for Charge Conference approval of compensation package AND form 8b prior to Rev Hannah Choi beginning her appointment Aug 1.   A Charge Conference (not all church meeting) needs at least a 15-day notice and two methods of announcement (this newsletter & Sunday worship) and appropriately authorized by the District Superintendent to take action on Rev Choi compensation package with a copy of the minutes being sent to the district office.  Since a charge conference meeting, not an all church meeting is needed, the Ad Board can take this action on the compensation package but Mt Bethel needs to be responsive to time & communication of the meeting.

 John Wesley's  Covenant Prayer
I don’t belong to myself – I’m yours Lord. Have me do whatever you want, put me with whoever you want, it’s your choice, not mine.  Give me things to do – easy or hard. Give me things to do for You – or put me on the shelf.  Let me have everything – or let me have nothing.  Freely and with all my heart I give everything to you.  I will give in to Your plans for me.  Father, Son and Holy Spirit – You are mine and I am Yours. Absolutely.  This promise I have made in this life on this earth – write it down in heaven for me, too. Amen
