Hello summer camp friends and families,

We are midstream in a wonderful run of Ekone Summer Camp sessions!  Today was our hottest day so far (a mere 94 degrees) and the kids spent the afternoon down in the canyon at the Mermaid Pool, giving me an opportunity to tell you about a few openings in these upcoming sessions. Please spread the word!
Teen Community Camp, July 18-24 (next week!)
Youth 13-18 are invited to spend a week together in the spirit of self-discovery and community building in nature. This week of camp will include time for reflection, connection with horses, playing games, sharing music, a campout under the stars and crafts.  We will learn about the plants and animals of this place in a way that helps us understand ourselves.

This session we’ll also focus on intentionally creating a supportive and strong sense of community with peers. Campers will have space and time to develop deep friendships and experience an exciting new depth of community, sense of place and self-awareness that is both fun in the moment and can also ripple through the rest of their lives.
Music Camp, July 26-31
Calling music lovers ages 10-17! No musical expertise necessary!

Music has always been an integral part of the Ekone Summer Camp program. From camp song favorites at garden parties, to Ekone-fying classics to original Ekone-inspired songs, we love making music! Music camp will give new and returning campers the opportunity to be inspired by Ekone magic to write, sing and play to their hearts content.

We encourage musicians to bring an instrument, their voice, creativity and a notebook. Campers will spend time out on the land and in community to help uncover the music they'd like to make during the week. They will play music wih the land, and in the process learn about the dance between space and sound, deep listening and the origins of music.
Youth Volunteers, August 6-14
This is a great way for experienced Ekone teens to take on a new level of independence and leadership.

A few years ago Ekone staff realized that there should be a way for Ekone teens to stay connected to Summer Camp even if they weren't interested in becoming camp staff. And so, we created a youth volunteer program to make that happen! The Youth Volunteer program is for teens 14-19 who want to continue to participate in the camp community while working super hard and learning invaluable skills. Youth Volunteers will work closely with facilities staff and camp staff to tackle ranch projects and keep everything running smoothly.
Gravedigging Workparty, August 26-28
Okay, this one is not exactly a camp...but we did want to tell you about our first post-camp workparty of the year!

This is a opportunity to engage with our cemetery work and the meaningful labor of deathcare, and to learn more about conservation burial. We will split up into small groups to grid and prepare grave places, with multiple 2 hour work sessions, and some time to be quiet on the land.

More details are HERE. Please RSVP to Jodie, whiteeagle@ekone.org, directly.
We are grateful to be in community with you!

With love from the ranch crew.
