Dear Reader,

Like many institutions, we are preparing for a short summer break. Here's a quick round up of recent activities and some interesting material.
VRTEACHER PROJECT ACTIVITY IN MADRID
The VRTeacher Project held its first in-person learning, teaching and training activity (LTTA) in Madrid, Spain, on 20-22 June, 2022. The training introduced the concept of virtual reality in education and tested the VR application developed by the project. Twenty participants from the six partner countries took part. More here.
3CL SIGNS MOU WITH DQ INSTITUTE AND ON OUR RADAR
In the past month we've signed two important cooperation agreements. The first is with the DQ Institute, an international think-tank dedicated to setting global standards for digital intelligence that ensure the safety, empowerment, and well-being of individuals, organisations and nations in the digital age. The agreement opens up opportunities for collaboration on research, particularly in digital literacies.

We've also just signed an MOU with On Our Radar, a specialist UK-based group of journalists, technologists, digital storytellers and development practitioners. Our intention is to scale up our GenZ media freedoms project and develop hands-on training sessions for young people. The 3CL will benefit greatly from the partnerships and know-how which may in turn facilitate community reporter networks and surface stories from marginalised groups worldwide.

COMING THIS AUTUMN: A FREE ACCREDITED COURSE ON DIGITAL COMPETENCIES FOR EDUCATORS
Time to take stock: Digital Teaching and Learning course
World events continue to disrupt education whilst the number of digital tools for teaching and learning proliferate. How can educators learn from the challenges they continue to navigate with blended learning? How can we select the digital resources that do contribute to effective learning? We are monitoring the rich evidence from the growing field of the learning sciences to determine the optimum conditions for learning, and the material which can tangibly improve teaching and learning practices.

This is the focus of the Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) course that we are developing together with Learning Sciences Practitioner, Dr Emma Pauncefort, due to be launched this autumn. The course will be pragmatic, but also offer trailblazing professional development for educators wishing to take a fresh look at their teaching and learning practice and their use of technology. For a snapshot of the brilliant work which we will be drawing on in this course, head here to see how Olav Schewe used learning strategies to reach his goal: to learn Spanish in a month.

Details of how to enrol for this free accredited course will be shared shortly.
