Climate Friendly Gardens project and job
We are delighted to report that our work on Climate Friendly Gardens in partnership with Climate Action Fife (CAF) will continue over the next 5 years with funding from the Big Lottery Communities Fund. PLANT has been granted £20,000 a year to take the lead on promoting climate-friendly gardening to Fife residents, together with other Fife groups such as EATS Rosyth, and CLEAR Buckhaven and Methil.
You can read about the pilot of the project, completed early this year, on our blog.
We are now looking to hire Climate Friendly Gardens Development Worker (0.6 F/T, £12.83/hour). Find the full description and application on our website or contact treasurer@tayportgarden.org. Deadline is Monday 25 July 2022 at 5pm.

Add your voice to PLANT’s future plans
We would like to invite you to join PLANT Committee members for PLANT Planning Day on Friday, 12th August, 10am to 2pm at the Larick Centre. The session will be led by an experienced facilitator, Gwen Jourbert.
As you know, PLANT has been through momentous upheaval in the past 6 months, starting with the damage done by Storm Arwen in November, then the loss of our funding support, and the consequent loss of our wonderful members of staff whom we had come to depend on. Since then, we have become a volunteer-led (and run) project, dependent on community support to keep going. But to be a volunteer-led community project we need the input of our volunteers to come up with a vision for PLANT - what kind of organisation should it be? What do we need to put in place to become that kind of organisation? How are we going to get there? How do we ensure ongoing community support?
Come along and play a critical part in shaping PLANT’s future!
Contact Jan on treasurer@tayportgarden.org to reserve a space.

Lend us a hand
We are looking for some help with our activities over the next couple of months:
- interview process for CAF Development Worker (not necessarily on the interview panel but to do that, you’ll need to have had some experience of selection processes)
- running the veg stall on Sundays, from harvesting in the morning to manning the stall in the afternoon
- organising the Harvest Festival at the Garden on Sunday 25th September. We need help on the day but also in the lead-up, including publicity
- updating our Facebook, Instagram and website

Keeping the balance in the Forest Garden
Forest Garden is bursting with life and we have been keeping the balance between the different plants and progressing with work on the accessible path. We also got a permaculture skills boost at our one day introduction workshop on 19th of June, led by Carole Egner of Echo Earth Care. We even got our hands dirty creating a Huegel bed - visit the Community Garden to have a look!
For the full update see Mark’s Forest Garden blog.

Community Garden growing update
The garden is planted up and the crops are coming, including the blackcurrants in the fruiting hedge and at Garvie Brae - please do help yourself to the fruit!
We keep on planting, and have been trying new methods, inspired by the permaculture workshop. We’ve also started a “fertilizer tea bar” using the nettles and comfrey from the garden to make free, organic fertilizer.
For full details, check out the full June growing update and The PLANT Tea Bar stories.
