Summer activities at Tryon Creek State Natural Area
A variety of family-friendly activities are being offered at the park throughout July and August.
Join a park naturalist on a walk through Tryon Creek. Topics will vary from week to week, and will focus on plants and animals at the park. The hikes will be geared for ages 5 through adult, but all ages are welcome. Meet at the Nature Center. Parents must accompany kids on all hikes.
Stop by Tryon Creek’s interpretive table located at the start of Old Main Trail for the chance to talk with park naturalists and get up close and personal with items like beaver chews, owl talons, and skunk pelts.
Stop by Tryon’s interpretive table to pick up a junior ranger booklet and set off on a scavenger hunt in the park. Parent’s should be prepared to spend 30 minutes to an hour completing the booklet with their kiddos out on the trails. Once finished, return to the interpretive table to earn the status of junior ranger and receive a badge. Ages 6-12 and their families.
