Let's Get Moving, Toledo!
Last week, I had a great time joining a number of residents and members of the Parks & Youth Services Department to launch the “Let’s Get Moving” program. It was so wonderful to be in Ottawa Park on Saturday to see families and friends meeting for picnics, running around the swings, playing golf, and enjoying youth programming at the amphitheater!
For the next 20 weeks, join us each Thursday for a walk in one of our City parks. You can win prizes, meet up with friends, and enjoy the great trails our city parks offer.
In other news this week, Toledo police have completed another targeted enforcement area in South Toledo. STAR (South Toledo Area Response) was initiated on June 13 and is the fourth successful operation that Toledo Police have undertaken in the last few months. In partnership with state, federal, and local agencies, police worked to address items that, with focus, will improve the lives of residents in South Toledo. Among other items, 25 guns were seized, $63,000 worth of drugs were confiscated, 446 citations were issued, 156 arrests were made and over 80 cars were towed.
These operations have been highly successful. My thanks to Chief Kral and the Toledo Police for this coordinated effort.
Have a great week, Toledo.
