Covey Flush Kennels

Searching for an exceptional canine companion to accompany you hunting on land or water or to simply cuddle with you fireside? Then look no further!
Some of the finest English Cocker Spaniels are born and bred right here in Alabama’s Black Belt at Covey Flush Kennels. Owner Phil Gray is an accomplished breeder and trainer, earning many hunt test titles with his cockers and those he’s trained for other owners.  His dogs are well sought after and most puppies are sold before they’re born.
Covey Flush Kennels’ English Cocker Spaniel puppies are naturally birdie and will develop into aggressive hunters in the field.  Their energy, stamina, and agility will impress you.  Don't be fooled by their smaller size.  English Cockers are very strong retrievers on land and water as well as superb flushers that can work with or without pointers.  They are excellent companions in wood duck holes, dove fields, and upland hunts.
When out of the fields, they are very sociable, affectionate, super smart and eager to please.  For that reason, they are easy to train and make great pets for children.
Get on their waiting list for the next litter.  It’s well worth the wait!

BBQ and Brews: Auburn/Opelika

Eat it up in the Black Belt! The Auburn/Opelika area has its fair share of local eats and drinks. Swing by Chuck's Bar-B-Que in Opelika for some of the best East Alabama-style barbecue inspired by South Carolina's mustard style. Once you've had your fill, head on over to Red Clay Brewing Company for a cold one. This new brewery in town offers three beers year-round, plus a few seasonal samples from the taps. The Chattahoochee Brewing Company in Phenix City is also a great stop for a brew. If you go, be sure to try their acclaimed stout or enjoy one of their lighter options.

Barbecue Heaven in Gainesville

The Alabama Rib Shack in Gainesville was built by owner Jamie Lee Mitchell and full of both flavor and history. Mitchell moved back to his hometown to start this business in the middle of 2020, facing many challenges. In the end, his love for barbecue has led to a successful, beloved restaurant in historic Gainesville. We recommend a trip!
