  New Graduate Student Orientation: Canvas


New Graduate Student Orientation (NGSO): Canvas is an online experience with virtual resources and videos to help new graduate students succeed. This self-paced Canvas site provides you with helpful information and resources to enhance your academic experience at Texas State! Enroll today!

  Fall Graduation Application


The graduation application will open on Monday, August 22 for any students planning to complete all degree requirements this semester. The application will remain open until Friday, September 30. Students who failed to meet all degree requirements for spring or summer 2022 or a previous semester must reapply this semester since graduation applications do not roll over from the previous term. If you have graduation application questions, contact gcdegspcl@txstate.edu.

  Shop Talks


Your shop is everything regarding your graduate degree, from program requirements to research and everything in between. Shop Talks provide presentations in key areas of your shop including strategizing efficient degree completion, finding research support, disseminating your scholarship, and even planning for your career. Shop Talks are held as webinars at various times throughout the day. They are always free, and we invite you to join us for as many sessions as you would like. We also offer a certificate of completion, which you can add to your resume.   Academic Success For International Students: Panel Event

In collaboration with International Student and Scholar Services, The Graduate College is pleased to announce a live panel event geared specifically toward international graduate students. This event will feature a panel composed of current international graduate students and university faculty who will share their experiences and give advice about adjusting to graduate school in the U.S.  This event will take place on both the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses. There will be time for Q&A after each panel, so be sure to bring your questions!

  Funding


Paying for graduate school can be stressful, so we would like to help you keep your mind on your studies by providing a variety of funding opportunities. Internal funding is provided by Texas State, while external funding is provided by entities other than Texas State.

Internal Funding - Graduate College Scholarships / Fellowships The applications for Research Support Fellowships will be available on September 15, and those for the Graduate College Scholarship will open on October 1. Students can apply for Conference Participation at any time of the semester.

External Funding
 

We provide an external funding opportunity each week in GradBulletin and on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! This week's featured opportunity is the American Association of University Women (AAUW) American Dissertation Fellowships.

Program Overview: supports women in all fields of study who are completing dissertations by offsetting their living expenses during their final year of writing 
Eligibility: women, including people who identify as women; applicants must be in candidacy by the application deadline and plan to graduate in spring or summer 2024  
Citizenship: U.S. citizens and permanent residents
Benefits:$25,000
Deadline: November 1, 2022

Dollars & Sense Presentation: External Funding for New Graduate Students

Are you looking for scholarships, fellowships, and grants to support your graduate study or research? This session will introduce you to the external funding landscape and answer common questions about the types and sources of external funding available, eligibility, and appropriate timing of your application. Attendees will also find out more about the search tools and services available through The Graduate College for students seeking external funding. If you are a new graduate student wondering how to get started with the external funding process, this session is for you!
