Hi <<First Name>>,
Josh here from SmartSocial.com.
Playing video games WITH your kids is one of the most effective ways to connect as a family and learn about why they spend so much time playing video games.

Last week in our VIP live event, we heard from three experts who all said spending time with your kids playing video games helps answer a lot of family disputes over gaming and screen time.

But, we know not every parent knows what they are getting into before sitting down to play the most popular video games.

We’ve refreshed three of our parent guides about the most popular video games today to help you get started understanding these games and what to watch out for with your students:
Pros and Cons of Video Games as a Family

At SmartSocial, we believe there are benefits and “pros” to students playing video games. We can’t deny there are “cons” as well, but we want to help parents and students understand both sides of video games.

Our brand new "Pros and Cons of Video Games as a Family" lessons will give parents, students, and educators points to consider when picking a game, safety tips while playing, and tips to disconnect from the screen.
In this resource you'll see video lessons about:
  • What students think about video games and lessons from students for students
  • 6 pros of video games
  • 4 cons of video games
  • Expert tips about the Psychology of Video Game Addiction
  • Screen time addiction signs & tips
  • Family checklist for playing video games

Your students have probably seen social media challenges online, or their friends may even be doing them!  We want to hear the pros and cons from your students about these challenges.

Some of our questions for students include:
  • Are there some social media challenges/pranks that are harmless and fun that parents/teachers should know about? What are they?
  • Are there some challenges you think are a waste of time? Let us know why!
  • Are there some challenges you saw carried out at school? Tell us about them!
For helping us with this project students will get:
  • Volunteer hours
  • Ability to put SmartSocial internship on your resume
  • Be featured on SmartSocial.com
  • If you are selected, you will get a $20 gift card to Amazon or Starbucks after you complete your internship tasks
These fun activities will give students the chance to share their personal experiences and give our audience insight into the typical social media activity of teens and tweens.

FAQs
  • How much time will this take?
Students will be asked to compile answers to our questions before we zoom with them (approximately 15-30 minutes). They must be written so you can email them to us.  Our video chat will take about 60 minutes. The total project is less than 2 hours.

  • When does it happen?
We are accepting applications through August 9th for this topic (other topics will come after this). If selected, students will schedule a time to meet with us and save it to their calendar.

  • Do parents need to be on video with the student during the interview?
No, but we encourage students to show parents the value of this program and get your permission.
