2022 AWTRS Young Investigator Award and AWTRS EMCR Awards


Applications are now open for the 2022 AWTRS Young Investigator Award and AWTRS EMCR Investigator Award
 
These two (2) awards recognise outstanding research achievement by students, and Early and Mid-Career Researchers and aims to promote and encourage emerging investigators in wound healing and / or skin tissue repair fields.

Eligibility
AWTRS Young Investigator Award
To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
  • be enrolled as a PhD student or have their PhD awarded within 2 years (on or after the 31 August 2020). Career interruptions such as illness, family and carer responsibilities will be taken into account if more than the prescribed period has passed since the award of their PhD.
  • be a current financial member of Australasian Wound and Tissue Repair Society for the past year.
  • not have been a previous recipient of an AWTRS Young Investigator Award
AWTRS EMCR Award
To be eligible for these awards, applicants must:
  • have their PhD awarded within 3-10 years (between 31 August 2012 – 31 August 2020). Career interruptions such as illness, family and carer responsibilities will be taken into account if more than the prescribed period has passed since the award of their PhD.
  • be a current financial member of Australasian Wound and Tissue Repair Society.
  • not have been a previous recipient of an AWTRS Young Investigator or EMCR Award

Selection Criteria
The principal selection criteria will be the quality of the candidate's research track record, relative to opportunity, in any of the following areas:
  • number and quality of peer-reviewed journal publications, including books and book chapters.
  • awards, prizes, grants and fellowships.
  • other forms of research activity such as conference presentations, invited speaker.
  • professional activities such a society committees and conference organising committees.

The Application Process
Applicants may self-nominate or be nominated by another person. The application must include a:
  • brief cover letter addressing eligibility and selection criteria, with an executive summary of no more than half a page summarising career accomplishments and goals
  • current CV which should include education, peer-reviewed journal publications (include impact factor, ranking within discipline and citations), conference presentations (separated into session chair, invited talk, talks elected from abstracts, posters), and other accepted publications, acquired awards and grants.
 
The Award
The recipient of the 2022 AWTRS Young Investigators Award and the 2022 AWTRS EMCR Award will be announced at an upcoming AWTRS 2022 Biennial Scientific Meeting from September 12- 14 2022, at the discretion of the selection committee, to individuals who have made significant research contributions to the field within wound healing wound healing and / or skin tissue repair fields. The recipient will be awarded a desk plaque, certificate, and a piece in the AWTRS newsletter on the investigator
