Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Network
E-Newsletter Summer 2022

Welcome to the Summer edition of the Oxfordshire Age Friendly Creative Network (OAFCN) e-newsletter, featuring an inspiring selection of age friendly creative opportunities from Oxfordshire and beyond.
We have some exciting news! The Age UK Oxfordshire Creative Team (that leads the OAFCN as well as other local age friendly creative projects) has secured funding from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation to support a new phase of delivery that joins our local delivery with our national delivery more effectively, the project is entitled Creative Later Life 2025. The aim of this new phase of work is to ensure older people get fairer access to creativity and more say in the opportunities available, by 2025.

There is a lot of work to do, but we want to focus on three key areas:
  1. Older people leading the way- our Age Friendly Creative Ambassadors are a great example of this and we want to do more.
  1. Creative Ageing becoming part of mainstream delivery- by maximising the way networks like OAFCN generate partnership working locally.
  1. Ensuring tailored programmes meet specialist needs- suporting projects like Dance for Parkinsons, Singing for the Brain and Playlist for Life to enhance more people’s lives.
We are extremely fortunate to have received funding to help support our delivery and we are very grateful to partners across all of our networks for their ongoing dedication to this work, we will share more news in the coming months.
More information about the project is available in the Age Of Creativity newsletter via the link here - Creative Later Life 2025

Silver Sunday - 2nd October 2022
Silver Sunday is a day dedicated to older people. Fun and free activities are held across the UK where older people can make new friends, visit new places, try new activities and connect with other generations in their local communities. It is a day for older people to enjoy themselves and given the events of the past two years, this is now more important than ever.
You are all invited to celebrate Silver Sunday this October, welcoming older people in your communities for a day of fun and friendship. You’re welcome to go to town on the ‘celebrations’ or just do what you do best and add any of your wonderful activities which welcome older people to the Silver Sunday online map. You can visit the website to be inspired by the thousands of activities from previous years by following the link here - silversunday.org.uk
