On Sunday, July 24th, New Springs Community gathered at our regular worship time and put prayer into action. Our offerings were backpacks and school supplies for the students at Meadow Lane Elementary School. We were able to organize and pack enough supplies to provide 3 filled backpacks for each grade level at the school.
We love seeing God at work in the midst of our community!
NEXT God in Action Sunday will be coming up in August - date to be announced. In the meantime, start gathering supplies to put in care-bags for our houseless friends in Lee's Summit. Any of the following items would be good:
new pair of socks, ponchos, chapstick, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottles, bandaids, feminine hygiene products, wet wipes, travel-sized toiletries (shampoo, body wash, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant),
snacks (granola bars, small bags of chips or crackers, cheese and meat snacks, gum or mints, pudding or fruit cups)
$5 gift cards to convenience or grocery store
Remember, everything they receive they will have to carry so no large or weighty items. We can place these items in a ziplock bag or a string backpack.
