This Sunday at First Unitarian Church

August 7, 2022

Livestreamed  at 10:30 am (prelude begins at 10:25)

“Jewels for the Journey”

Everywhere we look, our world is on fire. The guideposts that once reassured us and marked out a path are crumbling, melting, shifting. Where can we turn for steadying wisdom and guidance? In a world without landmarks, let’s turn to fundamental Buddhist teaching for a reminder of what we really need to take on each and every journey.

Kristina Church grew up all over the country as an Air Force kid, spending most of her childhood and young adulthood in Anchorage, Alaska,
which she still considers her hometown. She earned a master’s of social work at Columbia University and had a career in social work before becoming a mother later in life.  Reverend Kristina recently graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, Illinois, and entered into preliminary fellowship as a Unitarian Universalist minister in May. Her ordination was held on September 5 after being postponed due to the pandemic.  Currently, she lives in Buffalo, New York, with her husband, Greg,  and her son, Rafael– “Rafa” for short– who is nine. Kristina’s family recently acquired a new family member: a labradoodle puppy named Onyx!  Her passions in ministry include the climate and racial justice, restorative practices, and pastoral care. Personal interests include outdoor activities, music, writing, and yoga.

Ten people from our congregation have attended over the past year. We can attest that it is eye-opening, powerful, intense, and inspiring all at once. The experience will allow you to meet and interact with UUs from around the country and to get to know the facilitators, who are all gifted UUs of color that we are so fortunate to have in our denomination.
PLEASE CONSIDER TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY!
Financial support to partially or fully cover the registration fee is available as needed. Financial support to cover childcare during Jubilee-3 is also available if this would enable your participation.
