August Bike Fun!


Hello super shifters, did you miss us?! Summer is halfway over (already!) and here at Shifting Gears HQ, we've been busy laying out some exciting plans for the future. Summer is the perfect time to keep up your active and sustainable travel habits, especially cycling!

We've rounded up a small selection of upcoming bike events and opportunities you need to know about! Enjoy the rest of summer and we can't wait to chat again soon!
Let's Bike! A Family bike event!
East City: Tuesday August 9th, 5:00pm - 7:00pm

A free event, we invite families to bring their bikes and helmets out for a pop-up bike nights. Win prizes, ride our bike playground, get a free ABC check, decorate your ride and more! Through education and play, Let's Bike helps youth become confident, safe and adventurous bike riders! Check out here for more details and here to optionally pre-register.
Ride your bike to events with Bike Valet!
Did you know, our friend's at B!KE run a bike valet service, all summer long? That's right! If you're heading to Music Fest, Folk Fest or Peterborough Environmental Expo, you can ride your bike and park it at the secure bike racks, manned by B!KE's amazing volunteers. Interested in lending a hand? Apply to be a volunteer here!
Art Spin Group Ride
Friday August 5th, 5:30pm - 7:00pm
Join B!KE for an 11km group ride through downtown, Rotary Trail and Crary Park, focusing on a tour of the city's outdoor art exhibits. Enjoy a relaxing ride and a beautiful summer evening, with this First Friday group ride series. For more information and meeting maps, please click here
Wheelie Parade!
Monday August 15th, 10:00am - 11:30am
Bring your bikes, trikes, strollers, wagons and anything with wheels; to Peterborough Child & Family Centres invites the community out to the first Wheelie parade! Enjoy decorating your ride and parading around their new track and beyond! No wheels required, click here for more info and to pre-register!
