BOARDING NEWSLETTER
Kia ora whānau and welcome to our second boarding newsletter for term 3. Apologies for missing last weeks newsletter. Although we've had some freezing mornings this week, the boys were still pretty joyful. Keep reading to see what the boys have been up to!
The Week So Far

It is good to be back after my trip over to the UK. Many thanks to so many of you, who sent me well wishes. The time I spent with Dad was precious.

In between battling jet lag and readjusting to our cold snap, it has been evident around the place to see that the boys remain very settled, and business like in their approach. We are still in the grip of Winter illness, with the Junior boys in particular this week struggling at times. Despite this, spirits are high.
It was good to get back and see how much better Jarrow looks, now it has all been painted. In the next holidays we will complete its transformation by installing new carpet in the bedrooms. The food this week has been consistently good in the hostel, with some outstanding dishes being served up. My favourite was Thursday night’s 12-hour slow cooked beef brisket.  It was superb. We will keep including pictures of the food, so that parents can see what is on offer during the week.

Last Sunday a group of senior boys represented the hostel, at the termly combined boarders Mass at St Andrews College. Our Head Boarder, Ollie Robb did an excellent job with his reading and address in front of a packed Chapel.

Numbers of boys staying in at the weekends in the hostel remains high, as we move towards the business end of the Winter sports season. We wish the boys success wherever they are playing this weekend, in what looks set to be a very busy sports schedule.

Enjoy the weekend wherever you are. Best wishes Dai and the boarding team.

On Sunday, the boys who stayed in had the opportunity to go to supakarts, James came first with Rocco close behind!
Wednesday weekly yoga, another great turn out for this!
Staff member Lleyton showing off one of the many yummy cooked dinners this week.
Corned beef and cheese panini.
Waffles are back!
Slow cooked beef brisket.

At Tuesday's assembly, school prefects announced a 'Shave you Head for Cancer' campaign, to raise funds for CanTeen, would take place in September. To kickstart the spirit, boarder Jack DC had his head shaved in front of everyone! Well done Jack for your commitment to CanTeen. We'll keep you updated on the school's fundraising efforts.
