Church Refurbishment

St Andrews/Queenstown Historical Society would like to thank Nillumbik Shire for the $5000.00 grant which allowed local artist Rob Hayley to make and install a new fabulous leadlight window in our Church in St Andrews.

Queenstown Cemetery

The first recorded burial was in 1861. In 1866, it was officially recorded as a Cemetery Reserve.

From 1948 to 1999 the Shire of Eltham/Nillumbik Shire were caretakers of the Cemetery.
It is a closed Cemetery and operates as a B Class Cemetery under Cremetoria Victoria

In 1999 the Queenstown  Cemetery trusteeship reverted to the Community under Nillumbik Shire Council   There is an active committee who meet and hold working bees three to four times per year

The Trustees manage the Cemetery and with support of the local community and the ‘Friends and Relations', aim to maintain and preserve the Cemetery, repair and where possible, restore the graves and headstones. The indigenous and heritage vegetation of the Cemetery is protected, and includes many significant species.

Please wander through the grounds  and tread carefully as you spot orchids, fungi and other plant/wild life.
