Our children, staff, volunteers, friends and supporters came together for a community building event at the largest park in the center of Athens, Pedion tou Areos. We were truly honored to welcome the U.S. Embassy in Athens and U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Mr. George J. Tsunis, introduce him to the children and get inspired by his words encouraging a feeling of belonging for everyone. A big thank you to Hip Hop 4 Hope, Anasa Cultural Center for motivating everyone to dance and entertain us. We are also grateful to Yoga and Sport With Refugees for offering a fun and energetic Zumba training, a parkour session and for playing football with children under care.

We are proud of Asim, Mariam and Mahdi who came in our shelters as unaccompanied minors. Today, as adults, they are working at Cookoovaya restaurant and ΑΒ Vassilopoulos. A big thank you to Junior Achievement Greece and UNICEF Greece for ensuring access to equal opportunities through the implementation of the EU pilot program "Child Guarantee".

A young boy from one of our shelters was reunited with his family in Germany. Children and staff made a farewell card to wish him the best for his future. We are proud of the continuous efforts of our legal team that has managed to reunite 180 children with their families since the beginning of our operations.

Partnerships

We are grateful to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for providing a 2-year grant to sustain the operation of one of our shelters for teenage unaccompanied boys and secure the provision of a holistic child protection network of services to children who have been forced to flee their homes because of war and all forms of persecution.

Teenage girls and minor mothers from one of our shelters operated in collaboration with Movement On The Ground, attended a sewing workshop conducted by Because We Carry. We aim to empower girls to pursue their interests, express their creativity and participate in vocational training programs, aiming for social integration.

Activities

We always encourage children under our care to engage in artistic activities allowing them to express themselves and reduce their stress. One of our girls drew her feelings about the shelter.
