A friend recently asked me to name a favorite childhood book. When I answered Hell House by Richard Matheson he raised an eyebrow expecting a punchline. But that's the truth!

As a young writer (grade school) I ditched Puff the Magic Dragon for horror and Hollywood potboilers and often choose them based on the cover. So when I spied J.P. Jackson's new Devil's Due I had to know more! The author filled me in on his inspiration and who he hopes will enjoy the book (check out his blurb at the bottom of this post).

Inspiration:
I love dancing on that line between good and evil, darkness and light. Exploring the shadows that exist within all of us is an exhilarating exercise and I'm always hoping that when you shove that pointy stick into the other side, a demon-clawed hand grabs it and yanks you into the pit. Shows like Supernatural, Grimm, and True Blood spark my imagination but even though they have some gay themes, the central characters are not part of the LGBTQ+ community. So I need to write stories where guys like me are wrestling with our demons (either figuratively or literally).

My Audience:
I'd like to think I write for gay men whose brains are wired like mine; dark, shadowy, comfortable with gloomy days and cemeteries. If you need monsters mixed in with your romance, I'm here for you. If a little bit of gore and violence keeps you flipping the pages, I have you covered. Do you revel in morally questionable magic spells? Come on in. But in reality, I write MM Paranormal Romance, Dark LGBTQ+ Urban Fantasy, and Gay Horror because I need to see my Rainbow family immersed in worlds of magic, mayhem, and chaos. What's more - I think the rest of the world needs to see it. I want people to know that folks from the LGBTQ+ community can be heroes and not just the gay best friend, or the sidekick lesbian lover.

Show us the love!
I'm always thrilled when people leave a little love. It keeps us authors writing, motivated, and creative and the best way to do that is to leave a review!

About Devils Due:
Dominic Ronove is a contract demon. Anything you want, you can have, for six years, and a small token of your appreciation. Your soul. He's good at it. Very good. After a couple centuries of success, Dom's made a cushy little demonic existence for himself - until he meets Malik Parsa.

Malik's life is pretty standard for a guy his age. He's got a decent entry-level job, a pad to crash in, and friends to make good memories with. His roommate has been his best friend, and friend with benefits, for years. Life is pretty easy-going for a gay twenty-something - until he meets Dominic Ronove.
Malik has no idea what Dominic really does for a living or the fact that he's a demon. Dominic can't figure out why Malik is so special, or why everyone wants to either be around him, bed him, or own him. They're both about to find out, and all Hell's gonna break loose.

Hot Lit Finale!

I am a huge fan of OutWrite an amazing LGBTQ Literary Festival out of Washington  D.C. running Aug. 5-7. Chock full of inspiring writers and publishing insights. A great place to discover great writers and network! I met the fabulous and sassy John Copenhaver at the festival and he ended up writing this lovely review of my novel THE BUTCHER'S SONS for Lambda Literary review. By Chance! New editions of THE BUTCHER'S SONS and RIVER RUNS RED drop Aug. 9 from Rebel Satori press. Grab one!
