Metro Series, Remembrance Park - Parking and Start Times
Because of construction works at the Australian War Memorial, parking in adjacent areas is more limited than in the past. Parking is available in the Campbell High School car park which, at weekends, is used also by a few other Canberra Nature Park visitors. The nearest available overflow parking is likely to be on residential streets of nearby suburbs, at least 500 metres from the assembly area.
To facilitate parking in the school car park without inconveniencing other users, please note the following:
Official start times will be extended to start from 10 am (rather than 10:30), making it easier for early starters to complete their courses and leave before late starters arrive.
If it is practicable to carpool, cycle or walk to the event, please do so.
Please do not park in reserved parking spaces in case any school staff need to use the car park, or in areas reserved for construction workers.
Note that the parking area south of Treloar Crescent, which was previously available to the public, is now reserved for AWM staff, with access to the public AWM car park now being off Fairbairn Avenue.
With the above measures, there should be just enough parking in the school car park for the number of vehicles recently experienced at Saturday Metro events.

September School Holidays - Think Carnival time for Juniors!
Next school holidays join juniors from all over Australia and be part of the fun at the Australian Championships Carnival from Sat 24th Sept to Sun 2nd Oct 2022!
Kanga Cup might be your thing but wait till you try this sort of sports Carnival!
Orienteering at its best! A Carnival experience with all the razzamatazz of big screens, loud speakers, remote tracking.
Hang with hundreds of kids just like you – outdoors adventure hungry wild runners taking to the Victorian forests with some of the best orienteers in Australia.
If you’re loving your orienteering, and you are stepping up to moderate level and beyond courses then the All-Australian Invitational Development Team (AAIDT) is for you!
The AAIDT is open to all Australian school students at least 12 years of age at 31 December 2022. The AAIDT will be provided with supervision and coaching support (like representative state teams). Once at the carnival the group can (but is not required to) travel together as a team and will be accommodated at Campaspe Downs with the State teams.
As a development team, it is not essential that athletes remain with the team for the entirety of the carnival (Sat 24th Sept to Sun 2nd Oct), though support and supervision will be available for the entire period. Costs for the 9 day camp, including all meals and accommodation (exclusive of transport) is predicted to be around $1000 for per athlete.
Closing date for entries 7 August 2022.
Enjoy planning to be a part of the biggest orienteering camp on the Australian calendar!

Orienteering ACT wishes to acknowledge the custodians of this land, the Ngunnawal people and their Elders past and present. We are honoured to be able to hold events on the ancestral lands of the Ngunnawal people. We acknowledge the First Australians as the traditional custodians of this land, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history. We pay respect to the Elders of the community and extend our recognition to and welcome their descendants who both take part in our events and have joined us as members.
