For your awareness, the ADA/Polling entrance project is planned to start tomorrow Friday, July 29. Here is some information that was previously shared with the school community a little over a month ago on June 23:
ADA Entrance - Toward the beginning of May, CPS let us know that a two-week project to make the staff entrance fully ADA accessible was planned for this summer. Contractors will be removing existing sidewalks and portions of the parking lot and replacing them in-kind, pavers replaced with pavers, concrete with concrete, etc. The permeable sections of the parking lot will still be permeable and there will be no additional runoff going to sewers as a result of the project. The footprint of the paved/cemented areas will remain as they are now and will only affect 15 ft. of the sidewalk alongside the Raspberry Patch. They will also work around the cistern near the staff entrance.
Our amazing engineer as well as the school administration will monitor construction over the course of the project, which is expected to take two weeks.
There have also been other surveyors not related to the ADA/Polling entrance project on campus this summer. Bureau Veritas (BV) has been contracted by CPS to complete Biennial Facility Condition Assessments for all CPS schools, fields, stadiums and administrative buildings. They are collecting information on the interior, exterior, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and site conditions of each facility.
Also, please see information below about Mighty Acorns Family Campouts. They are free and the last one is on August 19th - 20th. The FPCC are waiving camping fees and providing tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, s'mores, dinner and a light breakfast. There are only a few spots left.
