Strange Brew (1983) was great!

Wowowow. It was so cool! With a weekend packed with entertainment options, the craft beer faithful made their way to the Kinemathek Karlsruhe's Piazza Del Cinema to watch Strange Brew (1983), drink tasty Lervig Pils and Mikkeller San Diego west coast IPAs, imbibe summery cocktails and munch on tacos! Honestly, there wasn't a lot not to like.

If you missed out this time, join us at the end of next month for two great 80s gems - Top Secret (1984), starring a young Val Kilmer and National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), starring 80s comedy icon, Chevy Chase. There will be more beer flowing and more cocktails to drink, and some type of nosh to take care of your hunger. And perhaps best of all, admission is free!

Who's spinning records this weekend?

Friday (22.07) - Fresh off a tour of the Himalayas, and a wicked case of frostbite which resulted in the amputation of his left butt cheek, it's our main man, DJ Sebastian Heck funkifying the southside this weekend. Dropping sides of boogie, soul, exotic, reggae and all manner of groovy stuff. 19:00 - 22:00.

Saturday (23.07) - DJ Dr. Frank Lubomir plays whatever records strike his fancy from the lurching pile of dusty old records that have collected at the Eel over the course of the past 6 years or so. 19:00 - 22:00.

Felix Wagner x  Thomas Gnativ

Karlsruhe artist Felix Wagner will exhibit a selection of his works at the Eel during the month of August. Join us on Thursday, August 4th for the confluence of his vernissage and the bartending guest shift of our good friend Thomas Gnativ from Guts & Glory. Thomas and Felix will be joined by a DJ playing vinyl sides throughout the evening with a special cocktail menu focusing on earthly, bold flavors, like the Big Iron, a riff on the Revolver, using Horse with No Name bourbon as its base, coffee liqueur, creme de cacao and orange bitters. We're looking forward to that!

New Beers at the Eel

Queue Tom Waits, Goin' Out West - a big, tasty, resinous double west coast IPA from Pentrich Brewing in England, Way Out West is my current favorite craft beer pouring at the Eel. That said, there's nothing bad pouring, so you'll have to take that review in context.

We also got the hook-up rom our man, Brausturm Matt with Northern Monk's Hop City, a double dry hopped imperial IPA which announces itself with a fruity, citrusy aroma and smooth drinkability. Get some!
