Trustee Rev. Choy-Wong releasing book

Later this fall, BST Trustee Rev. Katie Choy-Wong will be releasing Building Lasting Bridges: An Updated Handbook for Intercultural Ministries. This book provides insights from three US-based faith leaders from diverse cultural and denominational backgrounds for understanding and bridging cultural divides. Revised for our time, this book offers a brief theology supporting diversity, followed by reflections from the authors on their personal journeys toward embracing diversity within their faith context. Notably, the authors provide a practical pathway for building bridges, which will support everyone from beginning to advanced builders of bridges. Building Lasting Bridges, which comes out 11/15/22, is currently available for pre-order here.

Update on J. Alfred Smith Sr. Endowed Chair Search Process

The Search Committee for the endowed J.Alfred Smith, Sr. Chair of Theology in the Public Square/Director of the Center for Truth, Racial Healing and Restorative Justice has been formed. After the public announcement in February, advertising and solicitation of nominees across the country, the Search Committee has begun its work of discernment. The Search Committee is a diverse group reflecting the makeup of the cultural differences that is BST. It includes one board member, two students, two regular faculty and one alum/affiliate faculty member, the Academic Dean and President (ex officio). Even though the Committee’s work has begun with the intent of finding the right candidates to visit campus in the Fall for formal interviews, it welcomes any new nominees and will continue its work until the position is filled. You can read the job posting here.
