Basecamp Kanab

The town of Kanab in SW Utah is the ideal basecamp for visitors wanting to explore Zion National Park (1 hour), Bryce Canyon National Park (1.5 hours), Lake Powell/Page (1 hour), and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (1 hour & 45 minutes away - typically open from March 15 – November 15).  

Not only is Kanab a quaint little town, but it has awesome restaurants and hotels.  Sego has received the best of Utah restaurant award multiple times and offers healthy and amazing small plates to share.  It’s located downstairs in the Canyons Boutique Hotel.  Other amazing restaurants include Escobar’s Mexican Restaurant, Rocking V Café, Vermilion 45, and Wild Thyme, amongst others.

Dreamland partners with several locally owned hotels that offer our guests a discount when you book directly with them, including the Canyons Boutique and Canyons Lodge (mid-high end), Red Canyon Cabins (mid-price), and the Travelodge (budget).  Besides these, we have a Hilton, Holiday Inn, La Quinta, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn and more.

Also, since “glamping” is popular we have a great glamping resort called Basecamp37 near us.  Further afield are the Under Canvas resorts in Big Water (near Lake Powell) and on the west side of Zion National Park.

Dreamland Safari Tours – What we do

We offer both public and private small group tours for every age and ability level.  We operate in the Kanab area, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument (think the Wave and White Pocket) and on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (think Toroweap). Some require little to no hiking while others are big hiking days.  Most all require 4WD and tricky sand driving to access.  

Besides our partial day tours (3-4.5 hours), and our full day tours (8-10 hours), we also offer overnight truck camping tours where we provide all camping equipment.  Guests just bring personal clothing, toiletries, and camera equipment – we take care of the rest. 

Have a photographer, or a guest looking to learn about photography?  Have them sign up for one of our photography workshops led by professional photographer Cody York.

Want something a bit more rugged?  We also offer backpacking trips into the Grand Canyon, and of course world-famous Buckskin Gulch – considered the longest, most continuous slot canyon in the world.

Lastly, we work with a lot of guests to fulfill their dreams and we create custom itineraries all the time.
