A newsletter from the Kendall Square Association
Access to safe and reliable transit is the biggest issue facing Massachusetts' economic future. Amid devastating service updates and another surge of returning riders expected for in the fall, we need to know how to start supporting your commute.

Also in this issue: activities for the cooler days ahead, Kendall's community engagement, iFp Design Review, and Pfizer's big news.
 The Big Story

Getting to Work: An Odyssey

Emerging updates from the MBTA about line closures, commuter rail power outages and track issues, and red line schedules is making getting in and out of work harder than ever — especially for in person workers.

Kendall Square Association is here to help advocate for solutions and partner with the state during this critical time. Please take a moment to answer the poll below to let us know where you'd like us to focus our efforts in the coming weeks.

Inside + Out

Join MIT List Visual Arts Center on a public art walking tour showcasing MIT's collection on the west side of campus. This Wednesday, you can view select artworks from renowned contemporary artists like Beverly Pepper, Juame Plensa and Matt Johnson.
Everyone hypes up the work lunch, but what we love most...a productive work breakfast. Kendall Kitchen is one of our go to spots for breakfast burritos, omelettes, and sometimes even french toast. Make them the location for your next morning meeting (or solo splurge) and let them power your day.
A break in humidity makes an aquatic adventure along the Charles River the most pleasant outdoor excursion this week! Head over to Canal District Kendall to rent kayaks from Paddle Boston for you and your best buds.
 Heard in Kendall

"MIT can sometimes seem like a rather austere place. It may be seen as the kind of a place where only those super-smart people go to do super-smart things. We don't want to send that message. We're an open campus, and we want to send a message to people that whoever they are, from whatever background, whatever part of the community, whatever language they speak, wherever they live, they have a warm welcome with us. "

 –  John Durant, director of the MIT Museum and an affiliate of MIT's Program in Science, Technology, and Society. Read his full interview about the MIT's October 2 opening here.

Help us share how Kendall companies are addressing some of Cambridge’s greatest challenges.

Here at KSA we're using a Community Engagement survey to collect information about the community efforts and work of companies across Kendall Square. The data collected will inform a KSA-led campaign highlighting the amazing work you do to make our world better.

Please forward this to your appropriate colleagues in Kendall so that we can represent our community fully. For questions or additional information please contact Caleb Hurst-Hiller at caleb@kendallsquare.org

iFp's Largest Design Review EVER

Last week, KSA joined Innovators for Purpose (iFp) on The Demo Floor at the Cambridge Public Library. Here, we interacted with a 7.5’ full scale model, demo'd their first working video game, explored web and AR experiences and heard about many of the exciting developments happening directly from iFp Teen Creatives. For scenes from the event, follow @innovatorsforpurpose on Instagram.
